You have my sympathies. I am sure these Council people who allocate the places have a degree in dimwit. We had to go through appeal with both our Kids.
Second time was easier and we just told them, how the hell were we supposed to get two kids to school at the same time, going in different directions. That got her in.
For my Son, we told them, all his mates were going to the school of our choice and it was unfair to send him to a school, not even in our area where he would not know a soul. Big school is traumatic enough without having no friends there for support.
We also made light of it, not getting stroppy and basically said the school of our choice would benefit from having our Son in there, with the grades he was getting
Make a list of your reasons for chosing the school you have, ie distance from home, excellent grades (as you want the best education for your daughter), friends, feeder school??
Good luck, if I can think of anymore things we said, I will let you know. We did win both our appeals, just wish I could remember all the crap we told them

Don't forget to mention in your appeal about how their decision has had a corrosive effect on your family life and caused unacceptable distress to you and your daughter.
I would think twice about using her grades as a reason though as they may come back at you saying they want her grades to help pull up a failing school - just a thought?
Best of luck

We said it, purely tongue in cheek. It managed to raise a smile in a pretty stressful situation.
There is nothing worse than having to justify your choice to a bunch of Council clowns who have no idea what they are talking about.
Hope it goes well for you, JM
