Pensions piracy is bad.
Read this article in The Times today and thought it was very good. I agree.
I don't want to be paying into a pension for my whole career, and then because of a couple of bad decisions in my last year find that my expected pension has been drastically reduced. Money can be taken by fining someone who has done something criminal, raiding a pension pot is not fair.
Discuss.

I agree tbh - the whole Goodwin pension is a sideshow (as i said in another thread)
and I aslo agree on his point re OJ simpson (always have done) the fact whether is did it or not is to some degree irrelevent, if you cant prove it, which they didn't then you cant convict (except in the court of public opinion)
as I said in another post too the random application of both principles and law leads to facism
the bankers have been getting away with it for years, Goodwin is just a headline that proves the fact

The Government have also been getting away with it for years. If Harriet Harman's "Court of Public Opinion" actually existed and the Government listened to it, we would not now be involved in Iraq.

The sooner this shower get voted out the better.
What worries me is the potential for riots this summer, the police are gearing up and even looking at bringing the army in if required. The EU have re-enabled the death penalty for, amongst other things, rioting, and the government have got the laws in place to essentially disband the houses of parliament and take totalitarian control if there is civil unrest.
I haven't quite taken to wearing a tin foil hat yet, but I may be off to tesco soon!!

The government are the servants of the public after all - call it trial by media if you want, but the fact remains people like this should not be allowed such obscene amounts of money for such cataclysmic failure. Goodwin may be a sacrificial lamb, but if his pension gets taken off him it shouldn't stop there : the legislation should extend to all the other bank directors who've been bailed out. Might be a good idea to apply it to certain MPs too ...

I'd be stunned if his pension was taken off him - its all bluster.
I do however, think he may have a criminal charge to answer for negligence - IF this happens and they make it stick it will being a tidal wave of cases against banks which will do more good in the long run than any "Please sir, can we have our money back please?"
