Well, coming back from the South Coast this evening ...... 50 MPH limit - goes into a 40 for what appears to be about about 100 yards - then back to 50MPH.

I stayed at 50 all the way through ..... I genuinely missed the 40 ...... passed the camera, thought I was OK at 50 ..... then I passed a Big 50 Sign (with 40 on the rear of it!) BOLLOX!! maybe I was doing 48?

I have a 2 week wait, haven't I?

I reckon I got hit by one today in a fárty little village en route to Market Harborough!! Almost straight bit of road, albeit a village but after a long NSL stretch, with about 20 houses!!

I'd naturally slowed down and would never had thought such a place would have a camera but when I looked at my speedo it indicated 34. Now ordinarily that should be fine but who knows.

We wait.

Speeding is SO thoroughly irresponsible and totally dangerous; always and forever. However, good luck. D

Check the signs

This does not comply with the RTA definition of a change of limit sign, and as such the previous limit is still in force

These cameras are made by Truvelo. They are forward facing and are triggered by piezo sensors in the road. There will be 3 painted lines on the road surface. the camera flash is a normal white flash but has a magenta filter to take the edge of the intensity.
Unless you saw a bright blinding flash in your face, then the camera is inactive

They rely on the doppler effect to trigger them off!

I sympathise, I spent two weeks last year really regretting a blast across Anglessey, my transgression was more than 10 mph over (a lot more) but luckily I got away with it and dont want to repeat the 14 days of panic when the post comes.

Truvelo, forward facing cameras are infra-red and don't flash.

Just checked and the ones I encountered appear to be PEEK traffic cameras and from what I just read are rear facing and will flash. I got a brief look of the camera and it wasn't your normal Gatso or Truvelo.

That means I'm safe.

They had a trial on the A12 last year where the forward facing cameras would display your number plate telling you to slow on an electronic board if you were going too fast.
The distance they worked at was quite surprising, even in the dark.

I have seen several Truvelo cameras being triggered by other vehicles, the flash is not limited to the infra spectrum only, The flash is bright enough to be in the visible light spectrum. Photos on Pepipoo of Truvelo images show a pink tint to them.
