Nespresso - anyone got one?
Whilst visiting a client yesterday I was offered a cup of coffee from one of these nespresso machines. I actually quite liked it and wifey has been on about having one for a while. I thought it was quite cool being offered a wooden presentation box and choosing a coloured tot - George would have been proud
i don't know which one I had but by the time I got back into the office I'm sure I was still on a caffine high
I know theres a few officionados on here but I don't know what the opinion of these things is - I quite like it but there does seems to be quite a difference in price depending on which machine you get.

They're ok and quite convenient compared to other coffee makers of same ilk but they have this bloody stupid 'club' you have to join to order the pods. You don't even get a badge...

We've got one of the basic Magimix manual machines, and it's fine. Very nice Coffee and suits me as I'm the only one who drinks it in our house. Ideal for three/four cups, any more and it gets time consuming.
So a from me.

What is the cost of the pods? Can you only get them from 1 source and can you use your own ground coffee? I was wondering how it compares costwise to buying beans and using a different machine.

Shouldn't think there's much danger of that, it's a worldwide thing and has been going for a while. My favourites are Roma, Cosi, Volutto and Livanto -- not overly strong but lovely flavour.

it uses gound coffee (beans or pre-ground - I use Lavaza Rossa)
coffee goes in a "cup" just like in starbucks, which sits in this
locked into place like starbucks
then basically water in the cylinder thing is heated by massive kettle type heating elements to a very high pressure -- this pressure can be used to drive steam thru the nozzle (thin thing hanging down) by turning the **** on top right
the lever is pulled up to release the pressure which forces water thru the coffee
no electrics, purley mechanical (other than the heater bit) all servisible parts
