Goddamn Sky+HD!!!
Right i am the first to defend Sky and all its bits n bobs cus i work for them. BUT tonight my Sky+HD box has crossed the line.
Recorded BattleStar Galactica so i could watch it 15minutes after it started thus being able to fast forward thru the adverts. Went to watch it only to find the sound kept dropping out then all of a sudden the sound just dies completely. what a piece of ****e!!!
I think this is the worst week of the year for me as its only Tuesday.

i'm gonna use my instinct and not blame it on the HDD but actually blame the fact there is too many gays on TV thus diseasing my HD box.

Yes. The LNB requires a fair bit of 'juice', and when you're recording two channels, espcially in HD or gayly time skipping through an HD recording, the PSU can run out of poof, I mean puff. Something to do with the standard capacitors not being able to 'keep it up'. The line voltages that is...
OK, I'm out, but you get the drift....

Wasn't just you. I was watching it on HD at the time and the sound was really bad from time to time, just dropped out too. It was the same on 106 too. This was Sky's broadcast causing the problem not your kit I guess.

I cold boot my HD box once a week and never have any recording prob's. I also fitted one of these:
Home
The reason parts such as the PSU fail is because the box producers are always try to make them as cheap as poss, they build so many boxes and then look at what parts can be bought cheaper, if you can save 1 pence on a part then 1 pence a few million times is a big saving.
