Cool Building an igloo :D

Just been outside for a little play and decided to start building an igloo, i'm only two blocks up and have the door/tunnel in place. Hoping that it might frost over to make it a little more sturdy and will then continue in the morning.

Anyone else ever built one? I'll post pics up of the finished article if it's still standing in the morning

I think you may be a couple of blocks short of an igloo....

You do know the door is cut from the inside don't you!

You seal yourself in then cut your way out.

When you pile up the snow then excavate the inside, is called a Quinsey.

We used to have to build one on our winter survival courses in Canada. Hard work but they were surprisingly warm when finished.

If it snows again & you manage to build it you should go all Bear Grylls. Spend the night in it & do a video diary. You also have to catch your own tea

Well, it did snow! I've been out and made another start, nearly completed the base but popped in for a cuppa. Going back out in a while, I've no idea how far i'll get with it this time but i'm really hoping I complete it

Progress so:

Second tier is now on, i've done some filling in the gaps to make it stronger.
It's not exactly round but it'll do!

Well, after a few more hours on it I've completed it, it's a little out of shape but it was a laugh making it. I have got a shot from the inside, looking out but that's on my phone and it's a pain in the **** transferring them.

A few of them show it with a short entrance tunnel and then the extended one.
