Building an igloo :D

Just been outside for a little play and decided to start building an igloo, i'm only two blocks up and have the door/tunnel in place. Hoping that it might frost over to make it a little more sturdy and will then continue in the morning.

Anyone else ever built one? I'll post pics up of the finished article if it's still standing in the morning :D

NXG 02 February 2009 09:35 PM

I think you may be a couple of blocks short of an igloo.... ;)

Torquemada 02 February 2009 09:35 PM

:lol1: Awesome! I wanna see those pics in the morning!

SwissTony 02 February 2009 09:38 PM

did you use gloo in your igloo ???

Simon C 02 February 2009 09:40 PM

You do know the door is cut from the inside don't you!

You seal yourself in then cut your way out.

When you pile up the snow then excavate the inside, is called a Quinsey.

what would scooby do 02 February 2009 09:41 PM

You have to build them from the top down chap !!!

scoobyvirgin 02 February 2009 09:41 PM

Swiff, I used goo! Do you think it will annoy people as I've built it in the road ;)

Does an Igloo have an outside toilet?

Leslie 04 February 2009 11:15 AM

We used to have to build one on our winter survival courses in Canada. Hard work but they were surprisingly warm when finished.

Les :)

people have been predicting a crash for years

ScoobyDriverWannabe 04 February 2009 12:05 PM

If it snows again & you manage to build it you should go all Bear Grylls. Spend the night in it & do a video diary. You also have to catch your own tea

scoobyvirgin 05 February 2009 10:55 AM

Well, it did snow! I've been out and made another start, nearly completed the base but popped in for a cuppa. Going back out in a while, I've no idea how far i'll get with it this time but i'm really hoping I complete it :)

Good luck!! :) Wish there was enough snow here! :(

Progress so:

Second tier is now on, i've done some filling in the gaps to make it stronger.
It's not exactly round but it'll do!

urban 05 February 2009 04:36 PM

Did they get bored?

scoobyvirgin 05 February 2009 04:44 PM

Well, after a few more hours on it I've completed it, it's a little out of shape but it was a laugh making it. I have got a shot from the inside, looking out but that's on my phone and it's a pain in the arse transferring them.
