Default Ebay Sellers who don't leave feedback?

How can you get them to do it?

This has happened to me twice now were i have bought something, the transaction has went well and i've left good feedback and not had any returned?

I've emailed the latest one over a week ago with still no feedback. Does my head in

I get it all the time, I sell lots of old stock on ebay. Makes me soooooooooooooooooooo annoyed.

It's not just the sellers who are bad at doing this, but buyers too..

As above, it really doesnt take long to leave feedback - and that way at least the seller know the buyers has received the goods

i leave it for a while ( the longest has beena month) and then I send them a message using ebay as a gentle reminder - if they still don't give feedback I don't leave them any, and just remove it from my list

Anyone paying by PayPal should be given instant good feedback.

After all the only real responsibility of the buyer is to pay for the thing.

Also if no feedback left after 2 weeks it should also be an automatic positive for the buyer.

I seam to have the more recent problem of eBay sellers who advertise one product and send a cheaper/fake/inferior product out instead.

at the moment i have

1. ProCase-ECO laptop bag instead of the top range ProCase-ESSENTIAL
2. 180 "Black Ice" Magic Trees that smell of soap powder
3. Cheap silver camera tripod instead of the black metal one i ordered

Im going to start telling vendors that if they dont leave me positive feedback after Ive done everything correctly, that I will neg them. Vendors who wait to receive positive feedback before leaving theirs deserve this.

I generally just go through every now and again, sorry but if I buy a £7.50 Firewire card, a book or a CD I am not in a massive hurry to gush about the speed of delivery etc, as long as it turns up, if I buy off Amazon I dont have to do an acceptance speech.

It works the other way round, if I get good feedback when I sell, great, if I dont I dont give a toss as long as the buyer isnt moaning and wanting their money back.

I have boycotted it- until ebay reverse their decision to allow sellers to leave neutral or negative, I won't be leaving any, either as a buyer or seller.

Really? I'd tell you to bugger off and buy elsewhere! Ebay is riddled with risks for the seller; everything is weighted in favour of the buyer; and I will not leave a buyer feedback until they've left feedback for me. As the seller all the risk is with me, and once you've left feedback there is nothing you can do if the buyer then rips you off, FFS I can't even leave you negative feedback!

Here's how it should work:

1. Buyer "wins item" and pays immediately by paypal.
2. Seller posts item (entirely at their own risk).
3. Buyer receives item, checks it to ensure it is as described, and leaves seller feedback to confirm that item has been received, and is as described.
4. Seller leaves buyer feedback.

What's wrong with that? That's how it's always worked.

I've bought 1 thing off of E-bay. I nearly pissed myself laughing when I got the email through telling how not to leave negative or neutral feedback. It's not the way to go. If I do they'll neg me into oblivion etc etc... I'd only ordered the bloody thing the night before!

Here's a few bits from the email, are these the actions of a sane person?

PLEASE NOTE:
ANYONE TRYING TO DEFRAUD US.
WE WILL TAKE LEGAL ACTION.

POSTAL FRAUD IS A CRIME!! SAYING YOU DID NOT BUT YOU DID GET IT. ROYAL MAIL

PLEASE READ AD IN FULL TOP TO BOTTOM, BEFORE YOU GIVE FEEDBACK

PLEASE REMEMBER IF NEGATIVE OR NEUTRAL IS LEFT BY YOU, NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
WILL BE RETURNED IN KIND. NEGATIVE OR NEUTRAL IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.

Got to say, what with all the spelling, use of capitals and generally poor grammer my first thoughts were "Thank f**k I paid with my credit card"!!

In fairness, the item turned up, but I forgot to leave him feedback.

Doesn't bother me at all. I have had over 250 transactions with ebay and 100% feedback. Why get all wound up over someone not giving to immediate feedback? Some people do have other priorities in their lives other than making sure they give feedback on ebay.

Once you get over a reasonable amount of feedback, it does seam like less of an issue, but it can be annoying when some seller has a LOT of goood feedback and they give nothing back in return.

i can see both sides of the argument, but for what its worth, if you buy a product from say a real shop, the salesmen can not give feedback on the customer either, and has to hope that they don't go home, find its knackered and slate you with bad feedback on scoobynet while not being able to do anything about it regarding informing other retailers

disagree:

1 Buyer "wins item" and pays immediately by PayPal
2 Seller leaves feedback thanking buyer for rapid payment (that's the buyers only job)
3 Seller posts item recorded delivery so have proof buyer recieved goods
4 Buyer recieves goods that are exactly as described and not some inferior tat as stated by sticky mickey
5 Buyer leaves seller feedback thanking them for prompt dispatch and an item as described

The only reason for a seller to with hold feedback is if they are trying to pull a fast one and send an item that isn't what it should be. As long as delivery is recorded the buyer can't have any come back on that.

Positive should be the standard case with edits allowed if a dispute is raised.

Absolutely !!! Too many scams going about for a seller to leave feedback before a buyer has confirmed they're happy.

Paypal chargebacks, credit card funded Paypal payment recovery, returning an empty box by recorded delivery to get a refund, and many more...

Paypal refund the buyer in all cases, ripping off the seller, and they can't even leave a neg to warn other sellers!

The system sucks and the sooner a viable alternative comes up, the better!

Wrong, only a buyer would think this is fair. This is more likely:

1 Buyer "wins item" and pays by PayPal.
2 Seller posts item recorded delivery so have proof buyer recieved goods
3 Buyer receives goods but claims broken or not as described
4 Buyer files claim with Paypal demanding a refund
5 Seller requests return of the goods before refund
6 Buyer sends a box back with crap of equal weight to bought item by recorded delivery
7 Paypal check the tracking, see the seller got something back and makes the refund and closes the claim
8 Buyer gets the goods for the price of return delivery
9 Seller can do NOTHING to get money back, or leave negative feedback, so seller leaves +ve feedback with -ve comment
10 Buyer leaves seller negative feedback with negative comment

Now is that fair? No! But it happens all the time!!

interesting.

Although perhaps you should change your comment to "only an honest person would know this is fair"

they can't do anything else which makes the feedback system a farce if you're a seller. If anyone left me negative feedback for not posting feedback for them I'd probably package up one of my dogs finest turds and send it to them first class

Vendors who withhold feedback in order to extract good feedback themselves deserve to be negged.

A **** who posted me a dog turd would be wearing it later the next day. Self-important 'eBay traders' make me laugh, you ten bob millionaires.

so you think its fair a seller can receive negative feedback but not give it out? makes leaving feedback sort of pointless

It isnt 'fair', but it was eBays attempt at preventing their vendors from only leaving good feedback in return for the same, which made the system worthless, as buyers were reluctant to leave appropriate feedback for fear of reprisals.

Perhaps it is fair? collectively vendors' ability to leave anything but good feedback was removed after they abused it.

vendors do suffer from non payment and fraud and if you do you can't neg someone, just isn't right and makes the system worthless and not worth doing

Not being one of the Ebay mullionaires but a user all the same,it does worry me if a seller receives rapid payment but does not give feedback.
At the moment I have 1 outstanding item (11/12/08)and 1 non-payer(7 year old kid bid/first auction ).
When I sell as I have confidence in my items I leave feedback asap after payment;when I buy I leave it as soon as I am happy as long as I've recieved f/b accordingly.
If people are worried about negative feedback then they shouldn't try to deceive people or sell ****..
Also seems the bigger the f/b score the less likely they are to leave feedback first and I've only been suckered by high scoring sellers;had a few buyers try it but 95% (over £5 in value) of my stuff went recorded..
