Default U Turn Ticket

Hi all,

I received a penalty ticket for dangerously making a u-turn @ 11pm at night, I paid the £30 by cheque, which allegedly is lost and have now received a £45 fine for non payment.

I phones TVP to advise that I sent the cheque off, but they are no interested.

The fine has a different street to the original ticket, I am p!ssed off that I have to pay an extra £15 because the cheque was lost.

Can I get out of it because the address on the fine summons is incorrect?

If not i'll ask to pay a £1 a week.

Phone the CAB, I have a feeling that is a get out if it goes to court. Do you still have a copy of the original? You will need a copy of both.

The address of the offence is wrong?

You'd probably get off at court if you contested it.

The ticket I was handed at the roadside is correct (Avebury Blvd, MK)

The address on the non payment summons is (Alyesbury Blvd, MK)

Apparently it's the only road in MK where you cant make a u-turn, it was my fault, as the road ahead was closed, and as I was busy looking for a diversion, missed the u turn sign.

Luckily there was a patrol car waiting out of sight to catch criminal scum like me.

I'd (always) attempt to get off.

Go to Pepipoo website & post your ticket up there. They've some clever dudes that can probably find a way to get you off ie errors in wording etc.

If you contest it I am sure you will get off, but like its been stated its a lot of hassle for the amount of the fine.
You will have to take a day off work, pay for parking in town etc etc. In my case hire a suit. the cost just pile up.

No you won't, there is a slip rule allowed by the courts.

Agreed. And they would probably have you pay it and court costs.

Take it on the chin mate

I had a 3 point ticket for jumping a red light thrown out because I wrote XXXXX Road, when it should have read XXXXX Lane.

Depends on the Magistrate.

The slip rule would have applied in this case, the courts are allowed to modify errors like this, even correcting the name and address of the offending person, car type, registration number etc because the location of where the offence took place is irrelevant.

Where you given a verbal NIP at the road side or through the post?

I was the person issuing the ticket - it was my error!

if the original nip was correctly filled out, then any subsequent nips can be incorrectly dated, time and place. These errors will be fixed under the slip rule. A fatally flawed first nip and the case will collapse

I was given a non endorse at the roadside, I am just annoyed that I paid the bloody thing, which they claim not to have received, and now have to pay an extra £15.
