Guernsey
Carhire 3000
Old Government House
Guernsey Pounds or UK Sterling
No passport
Go from Poole or Weymouth on the Condor and pay for the 1st class upgrade
Book a meal at Donello's, Christies, Auberge and Fermain Valley Hotel.
Not sure what's happening in Sark at the moment, but we always visit Dixcart and Stocks Island Hotel.
One of the nicest places in the world imo.

Carhire 3000, they were considerably cheaper than other car rental companies I looked at.
I've got a pick-up and my family have a Land Cruiser Amazon, not ideal for driving around some of the local roads, hence why we always hire when over there.
The various wartime museums are a must, the Underground Hospital always very thought provoking, there's lots of nooks and crannies to explore and the locals are very friendly.
Friday and Saturday night in St Peter Port is surprisingly loud and boisterous, but nowhere near as bad as Poole/Bournemouth.
The only downside is it's not cheap, although you can do cheap, I pay more to stay there for a week at the O.G.H than you could stay in Florida for two weeks!
I'll be there at the end of April and fingers crossed we'll get great weather again, we've been very lucky the last 3 or 4 years at this time.

Am over in Guernsey alot as one of my customers is based there, near the airport. I would hire a car, its 30mph all over the island and lots of narrow lanes where you have to use the kerbs so dont risk damaging your own !!
The Farmhouse Hotel is great, the rooms are top and the food is very good. It used to be the Houge Fouque and was like Crossroads motel in the 70s, but its been totally renovated now. Christies is great for food, as mentioned above. Theres also a French place just out of St Peter Port on the main road on the coast where I went for an Xmas dinner thats nice (will find out name tomorrow). Dont bother with the Sitar indian unless you like bright orange chicken tikka massala. There also used to be a seafood place in Vason Bay that did seriously good prawns and mussels.
For nightlife, avoid Bar Bados, its pants, Folies is the better of the two. And dont forget the legendary Elvis karaoke bar.
As for currency, Sterling is accepted there, as is Guernsey pounds, but be aware that Guernsey pounds are not legal tender so dont bring them back as you cant spend them in the UK.

Cheers, can I ask for UK Serling if I get change then?
Thinking about these Islands, or Scotland, for the spring ... still considering the options ... even a cruise up the Norweigen Fjiords is on the cards.

And another vote for eating at Christies.
I'd be tempted to hire a Smart Car, perfect size for the island. Also watch out for the merge in turn roundabout replacements.

Sunny - my inlaws lived in Guernsey for 5 years so I know it quite well.
A pretty crowded island but nice places to eat and has a pleasant French feel to it. Some pretty little beaches too.
St Peter Port is the hub of all action.
I reckon it's a good place to have (or hire) a boat as the coastline is pretty stunning and it's good to explore.
We used to nip over the France for lunch then whizz back (40 mins each way at full pelt) which made it feel very special.
Not a huge fan of the Channel Islands but they aren't bad.

Yep - all of those have been spotted - I've seen dolphins and seals, the inlaws have seen a small whale (quite far out).
Herme and Sark are fun to have a look around too.
Speed limit is 35 so don't bother with anything quick! Just hire something little and nippy.

Spain does have nice parts though:
Direct flight to Girona from Newquay (20 mins from us), half hour drive the other end to Llafranc. Literally door to door in 3 hours.
Stunning place and pretty much undiscovered.
I can honestly say that apart from the lack of surf, I preferred it to Guernsey. I just found it a bit small and overpopulated.

Wouldnt affect you unless you were under your own steam
in which case you need careful planning and or a good engine
been to Alderney - rest of them bit too far , and then theres the tides as well

Benidorm is hundreds of miles away you total retard.
As for the tides, yes you need a decent boat - the Alderney "Race" is a constant 8 knot current that is good at stuffing up boats.
We found 2x 330bhp diesels were sufficient to cope with it all though...

I sorted ours out yesterday - rather a lot of water in it but my new boat cover "innovation" has worked a treat!
Done a 7km trail run (VERY muddy) and had a little walk - fresh air aplenty!

If that was a response to my post, I should of made it a bit clearer. This area has around a 10M tidal range. In my opinion, being a Guernseyman, Jersey sucks I was assuming my location might give a clue as to the sucks comment.
