West country Hotels?

My beautiful girlfriend and I are going away for a few days in April, We thought we would have a run down to the west country, Can anyone recommend a nice hotel?
We want to be near a town, near the sea but not interested in clubs etc as I hear they wont let you in if your wearing slippers.

Wanna narrow it down a bit more? Seen as how most SE bods seem to think the SW starts at Swindon .....

Somewhere around Devon/Cornwall area, Further west than Plymouth I think.

Iirc the kilbirnie hotel in newqay is pretty decent.

Carlyon bay hotel- top class. Bit pricey but a nice treat. Went there for afternoon tea xmas eve...very civilised looking out to sea over their golf course.
