Prescription scuba masks
Hi,
Myself & the missus to be are looking to do some diving in the summer.
Unfortunately she's as blind as a bat without her glasses / lenses.
I'm looking to get a prescription scuba mask for her.
I've had a quick google and there are loads out there. Do any of you have any recommendations?
How dies it work? - Buy the mask (make sure it fits) then get the lenses? or do you get both at the same time? (Mail order)

lol. . . . .
it's for the basic test where you remove the mask underwater - it would freak her out if salt water got in her eyes with lenses or the lenses "somehow" got washed away

Oh and while you're at it she'll need some cheap prescription glasses to pop in her BCD for when she's going to and from the dive site, else she'll still be blind as a bat unless she keeps her mask on all day!

Both times I have needed some I have bought them here
Sailing, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling and Wakeboarding Equipment at London's OCEAN LEISURE Water Sports Store...
Go in with your prescription and they will show your missus the range of masks they can fit prescription lenses to. Try them on find the one that fits best and then they will fit (usually from stock) the prescription lenses.
They make an amazing difference and if people pick up your mask by mistake they soon put it down again!

Unless she wears coke bottle bottoms to see, she'll be surprised just how much she can see under water if she really has to!

Thanks for the advise (and sarcasm).
To answer your question on prescription - she's -9 & -8.5 - so virtually blind.
It's easier to open your eyes under water knowing you'll be able to see again once you find your mask - rather than knowing you'll lose your lenses if you open them.
Good idea re cheap classes.

Mine and my g/fs are SeaVision masks - both with prescription. if you're an underwater photographer, then prescription comes first, leak prevention and fit, secondary lol
I spend most dives with a half flooded mask anyway lol
