Does anyone use an electric shaver?
I got a Braun Series 5 for my birthday and have been using it for about 5/6weeks now and its frankly not great but I have very bad skin so it has cut down on skin irratation and ingrown hairs etc compared to my Gillette Mach3.
But my question really is do you use one regularly? whats your opinion on them? or do you shave once a week with a proper razor and then top it up thru the week with the electric one?
Sorry this may seem like a pointless thread but i dont wanna stop using it cus it'll upset the missus as i think it cost quite alot of money and she knows i'd wanted an electric shaver for donkeys!

I use electric, although a nice wet shave is nice occasionaly. Shave every 2-3 days otherwise it hurts like buggery {not that I have ever been buggered of course but I have heard the stories lol}

My skin gets irritated on kneck when using electric shaver, so have to wet-shave. Can use this as an excuse as it gets bloody raw and painful. Plus nothing beats the feel of a nice wet shave when your stubble gets a bit long and feels 'dirty'.
Mind you I took this decision 20 yrs ago and electric shavers are prob much better now .

use electric every day - get used to it - its quick and easy with no irritation - ok a wet shave can get a slightly better shave but Im not worries about that last 5% and the convenience more than makes up for it

LOL I can only shave every 3 days or so (kneck is problem, jaw and chin is fine). Bit of a bugger if we have VIP visitors and I have to shave before the 3 days is up - ouch

check your technique, if you have sensitive skin only shave in the direction of growth and use something like nivea soothing balm. get a few days growth and then carefully check hair growth direction with some soap and fingers. it can be very suprising how hair growth can change direction and you have never noticed.

best bit of advice my dad gave me was never shave against the direction of growth
and it really stops any irritation etc -- ultimately not quite as close though

I am quite a lazy person and love the idea of an electric shaver, but I just didn't really get on with them. I much prefer a razor even though it means all that messing about with shaving foam etc.. In that extremely manly way I have to use balm afterwards otherwise I do get a slight rash.

Always ended up with blood everywhere whenever I have attempted a wet shave, my skin is just too knobbly Have to shave everyday as my hair is dark and grows quickly
Use a Philishave, was pretty much top of the range when I bought in Costco years ago but I'm sure there are better available now. Anyway works for me.

I don't have to shave regularly but am a "heavy grower" (in fact I've not shaved for four days and am well bearded up!) - after a LOT of trial and error I have found the best technique to be:
1)Use an electric (I use a Remington titanium thingy) to shave top lip, under bottom lip and chin area - the reason being I find these areas cut very easily with a blade. Then slightly shorten hair around the cheeks area but NOT under the chin/neck - electrics seem to trash this area and leave a horrible rash.
2)Use a blade for the rest using lots of hot water.
3)Rinse with cold water
4)Apply balm
Sounds a bit OTT but it works a treat.

Once a week with the Gillete Fusion but keep it down through the week with a Philips electric shaver (dunno the model number, 7k range though).

I have the same one. Bought it a couple months ago when it was at half price. TBH I like it. Doesn't quite cut a close as my old Braun shaver, but is far smoother than my last one.
Never wet shaved. Looks too much hassle.

I haver seen a picture once of the difference between a wet shave and an electric shave -- it was an extreme closup
and all I can say was the electric shave made the skin look like a scene from a vietnam war movie -- the hairs looked like they had been ripped and twisted out
this was obvioulsy many moons ago and maybe things have got better, but it was a really horrible sight -- the wetshave on the other hand left the hairs with clean uniform slices

Personally i used a electric shaver because i simply don't have time for messing about and given the price of the things you may as well have bought an electric one anyway.
Best thing is to shave before a shower or something, never after as it tends to drag a little on the skin, plus the warm water tends to stop any irritation. Have a shave while the water warms up is a good option.
I've only ever had about four wet shaves and to be honest none has been better than a decent electric shaver.

Don't wet shave anymore, too much irritation. I have a phillishave electric shaver which you can use wet but still get a load of irritation. Now i just trim it all with a remington, cant beat a bit of fasionable stubble.

An electric shaver causes massive irritation for me so have always had to wet shave. I hate it though so shave once a week. Luckily my work have never said anything so that's how I leave it now. If I had to wet shave every two days it would be just as bad as using an electric shaver for me.

I think its different for everyone. I used to use electric but found that I get a much better result with a wet shave even though I find it irritating to go to the bother.

for me its not the time it takes to wet shave, its just the act of doing it really does my head in Nothing worse than getting up, being blury eyed and having to tackle ur ugly mug in the mirror.

Sadly I don't rate the product. Seems to always muller from my chin to my neck. Also misses hairs and the battery life is no where near the manufacturers claimed.
Contemplating a foil job.
