Default Virgin Media Cabling Schedule

Anyone know if there is a site to tell you when Virgin are scheduled to lay new cable? I know you can get this for ADSL exchanges that are moving to ADSL2 and so on.

Virgin, lay, cable. I'm sure there is an innuendo in there somewhere

Thanks.

Virgin told me that they have no plans to lay cable and do not have any plans to do so in the forseable future.

i'd be interested to know if you do find the info. i would seriously consider going over to cable if they laid one in my street. silly thing is, they by-passed the 80 odd houses in my street and the 80-100 odd houses in the streets 5 or 6 blocks either side by sticking to the main road and not reaching half as many houses

PS - i laid a cable this morning, but it won;t reach your house from here (couldn;t resist)

Yes that is what I expected, ADSL2 should arrive at my exchange Q2 2009 accordin to Samknows, hopefully that will improve my pitifully slow connection. Unfortuantely I'm one of those lucky people who's a fair way away from the exchange.

I'm wondering if moving to another supplier may help, I'm currently with Sky, not free yet in my area.

Thanks BigSinky I will pop over there now.

with the govt hammering BT over LLU a lot of comms providers are getting DSLAMs into exchanges now, but still pitifully slow IMHO. distance from the exchange doesnt really count. its how the copper wire is laid. i have a mate who is about 100 yards from a BT exchange and his connection is crap. end house on a road facing the exchange but he is the termination end of a long cable drop.

My mate is the transmission manager for VM so I'll ask him to see if there is any info.
