I gather the US want to shut the camp and release the inmates. Fair enough IMO.
Does anyone know the reason why they can't all be settled in the US or indeed if any of them are going to be?

I also note that NL has volunteered to house some of the inmates. Seems like they want to get their feet under the table with the new President.

Wondered that myself. The US have asked the Aussie Govt to take some detainees. Fortunately, it looks like Rudd and Co. have told the US to get stuffed. I'd be surprised if UK Govt hadn't been approached. Seems they have

Apparently the UK is being asked to take some of them here. As this Gov has supported terrorists in the past I cant see why they wont do it again.

I would be amazed if we did not take some of the prisoners. The powers that be have decided that its reasonable to detain some of these people without trial. I am pretty certain we will assist, just as we assisted in getting them to Guantanamo in the first place (provided refuelling facilities for American aircraft)

I am sure there are some out and out hard line terrorists being held but I suspect most of them were brainwashed uneducated youngsters in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't think that they can now be convicted in a proper court as much of the "evidence" against them was obtained under duress, and that's putting it mildly. But they are hardly going to be pro-Western so having them here or the USA, free, is asking for trouble.

If they can't be returned to their own countries I would have thought there would be sympathetic parties, say Iran, that they could go to, via a third party perhaps? Cash may be required. dl

Probably because 90% of them are innocent, have not been convicted of anything and have probably been tortured so much there bollox look like Sainsbury olives (yeah bit wrinkly and small).

I expect the UK government will probably take them all as most probably have family here, enjoying numerous state benefits

how can they murder "our" troops. if i went to a army base and killed a soldier then i have murdered him etc.

Our troops are in THEIR country. ruining it,Uninvited . so if they feel like "killing" our soldiers it is their right. dont blame them, blame the Governments
