Wikileaks and Guantanamo - watching the Americans squirm :-)
Just had the pleasure of watching some American government spokesman squriming over the initial Wikileaks disclosures about Guantanamo
- 150 complete innocents held for years for no good reason
- a 14 year old boy who said spokesman claimed was a murderer before remembering to STFU
- only 220 of the sum of all detainees are actually terrorists
and so on
And that is before we have got to the techniques used to extract information that the American government seem very keen to hush up!!!
And people on here tell us these are the good guys LOL!

Not really no frankly. You cast a big enough net in the right place and you will get some catch, the fact they also hauled in hundreds of innocents that they then detained for years for no good reason makes it utterly unlawful.

Dont think they cut off any detainees heads with a rusty 4 inch blade in Gitmo though??.....put yourself in the parents shoes of that soldier, watching your young son having his head removed with some filthy scum bags foot on his face....your country has to act.
Gitmo was not necessarily "great" for what it did, but i'm sure some of the intel gained there led to the capture of some colourful characters on the front line??!?

"Some" catch? The total number of all inmates ever brought to Gitmo is supposedly 775, so that's more than 1 in 4 who were actually guilty, which is quite a bit higher than the random chance effect you seem to be implying. Or are you saying that 1 in 4 of all people in that part of the world are terrorists?

Guantanamo will always be a black mark in America's history.
If they cannot produce evidence which will convict a person in court then there is no justification for imprisoning them in a foreign land where habeas corpus conveniently does not apply.
The recent statement about those prisoners is a good indication of the unfair treatment those innocent people were subjected to.

Mate 90% of it is glamorised news from weeks/months ago...they join together news story a). add news story b). and make story c).
It is "Daily Sport" style media at best, just once every few weeks they rattle a cage and LIVE off the publicity....are wikileaks best known for "breaking front line news" or because their founder was nearly convicted of rape, and spent some time in jail here?....the latter for me; which is why few people know even how the web site looks!
