This is a quote from that link, you would have thought that Bonhams would have written to the owner who would have been an old man and told him of its potential value rather than leave it rotting away, that way he could have enjoyed the money before he went and his family could have enjoyed the money a while ago too.

"James Knight, international head of Bonhams' motoring department, said: "I have known of this Bugatti for a number of years and, like a select group of others, hadn't dared divulge its whereabouts to anyone. "

There was a similar story about 15 years ago regarding a mega-rare black pre-war Mercedes 540K Special Roadster (the sort of thing that Hitler's porky chum Hr Göring drove, and 1 of about 10 left of the 26 made), that had spent most of its life in a Walsall lock-up garage. The owner wouldn't sell it to any locals, but eventually word got down the M40 to the vultures at a renowned London auction house. A representative from this august firm went up to Walsall to find the car and offered the owner a "huge" amount of money for it (allegedly about 30K), which was accepted by the nieve owner. The Auction House promptly sold it off at a Sale a few weeks later in as-found condition for well over a million. F1 midget Bernie Ecclestone sold his at auction a while back for 4 million.

Despite their posh names and noble reputations, the Auction Houses are just as manipulative and greedy as everyone else.

I don't think this Bug will go for anything like 6 million: it's not a historical race car or one of the handful of the holy grail Type 57SC Atlantic models. Unless moneybags Chris Evans is in the room of course!!!
