Astonishing Parcel delivery!
I ordered a t-shirt for a mates present from an online company with a .co.uk address and picked the "Expedited Deilvery" to make sure it got here on time.
"More fool me" I thought when I checked yesterday to see where the hell it was:
Philadelphia.
I kid you not - the bloody site was US based but using a .co.uk domain name!
I look at the tracking info and see this: (reverse order, oldest at the bottom)
PHILADELPHIA,
PA, US 12/23/20083:09 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
LOUISVILLE,KY, US
12/23/2008 1:29 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN

SAN JOSE,CA, US
12/19/2008 7:51 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
12/19/2008 7:17 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN
12/19/2008 6:04 P.M. PICKUP SCAN
US 12/19/2008 9:22 P.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED
Yesterday. The day before the very last day it could be delivered, and the damn thing is on the wrong side of the Atlantic.
Anyway, online this morning looking for the phone number for the local Co-op (to check what the licencing hours are.... get the booze!) I decide to check the order and see what is happening.
I see this:
DERBY,GB 12/24/2008
12/24/2008 5:19 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY
12/24/2008 5:19 A.M. IMPORT SCAN
12/24/2008 5:00 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
EAST MIDLANDS AIRPOR,GB
12/24/2008 4:20 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
12/24/2008 12:17 A.M. IMPORT SCAN
EAST MIDLANDS AIRPOR,GB
12/23/2008 8:22 P.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
PHILADELPHIA, PA, US
12/23/2008 8:58 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
12/23/2008 3:09 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
To say I was Gob-smacked is a massive understatement! I get back from the Co-op and at 9:30 there's a UPS truck outside with the parcel!
How good is that? The very last of the presents which I'd given up on and it arrives from the States just in the nick of time.

Seems mega impressive when you look at it, but its a standard economy service from USA to UK for most carriers
Express would have done all that over night
Glad its arrived. Oh and glad you got home before recieving a card of doom!

If you are 10 years with them, they bypass most of the US customs guff.

I am reliably informed by my company (Fedex) that the Memphis hub is kick **** too, lol.
And unlike UPS, had an employee hijack a plane to crash it into the hub to kill everyone. Talk about oneupmanship lol

Thats the one Phil.
The untold part of the story was he was a disgruntled employee who was sacked from Flying Tigers I think it was, then employed by Fedex after they bought them out.
He was just about to be sacked and disgraced, so thought he would take something daft like 5-10,000 people working in the hub that evening with him.
Apparently the plan was to dive the plane into it.
All went wrong though as the route was over weight, the plane was replaced, therefore the all woman crew was replaced by an all male crew, who were fortunatly stronger and over powered him.
Interesting spin on it eh
