So what are you doing for new years eve?
Over the last 20 odd years, I think I may have spent 3 of those outside the country, normally not on my own doing (work) and now its either a party round at a friends or your out to a pub/club paying stupid prices to get into them, so for me this year, im going abroad
So, what are you lot doing this december the 31st?

I'll be sitting at home with the lady, watching dull tv, thinking how the rest of the world is having a better time than me.
I find New Year's Eve a real pain in the ****, as suddenly every pub starts charging £££ via tickets, even the most crap ones, nightclubs start charging £30 / £40 a time. So, if there's a group of you, due to cost, you have to go to one place only, unlike normal weekends where you can go to a few different pubs.
Taxi's are double bubble, so a normal journery is £50, so there's £120 straight off, even before you've had a drink.
So, staying at home for me.

The good lady and I are away for 5 days from 29th Dec. We've hired a barn conversion in the Cotswolds. There's a few pubs nearby which are walking distance so hopefully see in the new year with some strangers..

PS only a few more hours at work then pub time

Might venture down the local for a few but usually have a nice meal with the missus, few bottles of wine, Champagne, and watch a bit of telly. In bed just after the chimes

We've thrown house parties for the past few years, so we're having a year off.
Its saved us at least 500 quid as thats what I would spend on bottles of spirits etc that I use for making cocktails from 8pm to 4am

For the first year since reaching the age that you can legally drink I will probably stay in with the missus and cook a nice meal and have a few drinks. Have been out clubbing the last god knows how many years and its always been a bit anti-climax. plus every ahole in the world that never go out always seem to be out on NYE.

We've been going away to a Holiday cottage for many years now, and it's ALWAYS a good week away. We've been to Cotswolds twice now (it's shut ) and found a couple of great places to stay.
The Lakes are still my firm favourite though as there are loads of places you can visit and it's really quiet at this time of year.

A mate manages a bar in Leeds. He's kindly put two tables to one side in the VIP area for us and is sorting numerous drinks at cost price. So free in, no queuing for the bar, cheap drinks and hopefully some drunk slightly vulnerable women who feel alone at midnight.

i don't like new years eve much, where i live in the s wales valleys, drinking is a way a life, and people look at you like like you've got two heads if you have nothing planned, no party, no pubbing or clubbing. too much expectation.

Sitting at home drinking lightly and playing on the Wii or watching some dvds with kids in bed.
Mrs wants to go out but have no babysitter and no way am I paying extortionate prices to get into a pub which will be full of tossers pushing and shoving to get to the bar.

I would have to say that I have never had a good New Years Eve when out... not one. There's always something to spoil it.
Stay in with good friends and play stupid games, get drunk and enjoy yourselves.
Plus you have no distance to stagger when it's time to go home

At midnight I'll be starting a 17 hour shift at work, I never go out for new year, so I'll get the year off to a flying start with loads of money and the next day off in lieu!
