You sure its just not on Standby? You have to hold the red standby button for a number of seconds til it comes back on. Pissed me off when someone turned mine off using standby I couldnt get it back on lol.

This may seem a daft thing, but it happened with me ..... worth a look?
I had a SONY TV - it wouldn't turn on and flashed its red light at me ... this red light flashed when the remote buttons were being pushed (yet I was holding them!).
Turned out to be the SONY Pro-Logic Amp Remote Buttons being pushed by a seat cushion which resulted in it over-riding the TV Remote. Took it out from the cushions and all was fine.
Do you have any other Panasonic equipment in the same room and is their remote being operated constantly?

Have a similar problem with mine.
Sometimes in the morning when it's been off for a while it won't switch on straight away - Get the same red lights.
Mine goes away - Just keep persevering with turning it off and on again.
Guy in JL said it does happen - I can return mine if it gets too annoying
Might just wait a few years and try and wangle an upgrade

Hi
I had a 42 viera, and this happened to me a few times.
This was the condition :
The TV is off.
Press and hold the red power button on the remote, and the little red light (next to the on/off switch on the telly) would flash really quick (like 10 times a second). But you could hold it as long as you liked and the tv would not turn on.
The fix was always, just to go and switch it off with the button the face of the tv. Wait about 20 seconds, then switch it back on.
Then press and hold the red power button on the remote.
-
I hope that fixes it, but you'd think the kettle lead solution would have done the trick.
And don't go too hard on the kids.. there really shouldn't be a "break the tv" option in the menus.
Good luck!

If you hear it switching on and getting no picture then switching off again Id go with the above suggestion of PSU. Panasonic will probably end up doing it for free, even if it is out of warrenty

Getting the JL waranty is a good thing and gives you peace of mind. Cant understand anyone buying from elsewhere.

I had the same problem on a Toshiba.
It was a fault on the power protection board (or something like that) which was designed to stop the TV from shorting, basically if this board failed the TV wouldn't be allowed to power on.
The guy proved this to me by disabling the board and the TV powered on first time, new board fitted and all was ok.
Cost about £100

Ive had a Viera 42PZ70 since last xmas and ive never had a single problem with it, to be honest its the best tv that ive owned and the picture is stunning with great colours.
If your tv is still under warranty i would get it checked out at your local panasonic repar centre.

Why buy from John Lewis when you can buy it cheaper from Richer Sounds and get a PANASONIC 5 year warrantly (which will be a darn sight better than a department store warranty I reckon).

Is it a 42PX70?
I've heard they can do this. When you turn it on they make two or three "clicks" as the screen is coming on. Does yours make any clicks at all?
As for warranty the 5 year warranty that was banded about with the Panny screens is official Panasonic so it doesn't matter where it comes from.

You hear nothing but great reports about the John Lewis warranty and the customer care they give you, wait till you get a problem and have to deal with Panasonic direct like i had too with a problematic dvd recorder and they were not exactly helpful to put it kindly.
