Is This True About Stella???
Was in the Supermarket last week & got my usual cans of Stella.
Poured myself a drink that night & went this tastes rubbish!
I looked on the Can & it said 5% instead of 5.2%.
So I was in there this Morning & all the cans are 5% or this "Donkey Dirt" tripled filtered rubbish @ 4%.
I asked the Beer Chap who said it's something about Taxes & excise & that's how it will come in future, No more 5.2%
Does anyone know if this is true or not???
He was pretty busy & couldn't wait to get on with filling shelves.
Regards

The 440ml cans have been 5.0% for a little while. The good old corner shop still does the 500ml at 5.2% thankfully.
I've not tried this Stella 'light' stuff. The whole idea of it kinda defeats the object.

I think the basis of it is in some upcoming tax rules that mean you pay more tax on drinks over 5% to try stop binge drinkers getting mortal and fighting everyone
I assume the move was made as they weighed up the options of either loosin the 0.2% or charging alot more for the cans, which are already not exacly the cheapest
I may be wrong but it wakes sense to me
Its another tax on the innocent man in the never ending crusade to rid the world of tracksuit wearing *** heads, I still say itd be easier to just give all the normal people a shotgun and have an national "put a charver to sleep day"
Im a carlsberg man myself, stella just makes me angry and the tripple filtered stuff gives me nightmares, god knows why lol

There has been 5% cans knocking about for years! I first discovered it to my dismay from a local corner shop. I think it must be cheaper to buy in, but they probably sell it at the same price as the 5.2%, as most people wouldnt notice.
Don't think they will stop doing 5.2% to be honest though.

Been speaking to a couple of mates since my post.
They said it is something to do with taxes & excise???????
If this true then this Nanny State Government have really taken the wee wee.
They drink in Subsidized Bars (and Food) in the Houses Of Commons whilst we scum, have to pay full whack.
I hope this isn't true cos I have for years enjoyed the 5.2% Cans at home for years, it's the only decent Lager to drink at home.
If any one finds out for sure, please let me know.
Cheers

As part of InBev UK’s investment into Stella Artois we introduced new primary and secondary packaging for Stella Artois. This packaging change is happening across the globe and began in the UK from September 2008.
We used this opportunity to harmonize the ABV of Stella across channels to 5% (it was at 5.1% in the on trade and 5.2% in the off trade.)
By harmonizing the ABV we are providing the consumer with consistency and clarity. This will have no impact on the taste of the brand but will allow consumers to enjoy a consistent strength lager at home or in the pub.

This country really is pathetic. I can't for the life of me understand the point of this 4% tasteless "smooth" lager trend either. I don't see why everyone should suffer because there is a social problem with idiots binge drinking. Its like keeping the whole class in detention because teacher doesn't know who done it!
Anyone noticed that Magners are now trying to flog their alcoholic Appletise to the public NOT over ice now its available draught after pushing the fact it should be served OVER ice for years in bottles. Magners and Bulmers are exactly the same product and its just amazing how susceptible the public is to advertising. Thats why I will now only watch Cbeebies so I can't be brainwashed into wanting the next new crappy plastic toy.

Do you work for Stella/Inbev??
If you are trying to tell me theres no difference in taste between the 5.2% & the 5% I disagree strongly.
It's like saying a Proton (who are part of Lotus) is a quick as a Lotus!!
I agree with the Post about Magners Cider, Advertising Persuasion, My Bottie!!

what is going to happen to the 'New stella-black' that was being released in the new year?
If my memory is right it was supposed to be stronger.
InBev gears up for launch of 5.5% Stella Black lager

As far as I'm concerned, that is an assault on the nation, and as such Stella has to start producing the regular beer ASAP, and the cabinet members who passed the law have to commit Seppuku!!
Failure to comply should result in an atomic attack on Stella HQ.
End of story.

I think it's also part of a marketing exercise to clean up Stella's public image. A lot of people associate the brand with binge-drinking idiots, and some pubs are now refusing to stock Stella on this basis.

Still 5.2 here, looked at the one's in our local supermarket as well as a couple of wine & beer shops. I've been told ours comes via France, so we may be lucky.
