Attention, video editing gurus.
I have a 60 minute video on DVD that I would like to edit into smaller chunks for youtube. I have converted the file into MPEG using the free version of "Any Video Converter" but now I'm stuck. Windows Movie Maker won't import the video and Youtube won't upload the "trimmed" version in the "Any Video Converter" preview window.
Do I need to buy some proper editing software, or is there another way?
Any tips would be most appreciated.

Professional would do the job, but it's also expensive...search google for Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier or Avid Xpress...you may be able to get a free trail.

There are quite a few flavours of MPEG - maybe you actually have an M2V brew that nobody likes? Try converting it to a Quicktime and if you have QT Pro you can trim there?
The only prog that I use to import DVD's is Cinematize. Offers loads of codecs and formats.
No free trial on Avid that allows you to output I think. Err, and its not a prog you can learn in half an hour!!!

Doesn't have to be Avid, I listed several...also didn't say he would know all the ins and outs...but he could certainly import & export within half an hour...I think I should know

Also import export settings can get complex - 'is it maintain and resize 601/709' or an 'RGB dithered, non square progressive'? And that is just the 'in' side...
I was just trying to help him not get your nose out of joint somehow!
