From what I can see, Imprezas registered between 2001-2006 will be £215 next year £245 the year after as opposed to £300 and £310.

Post 2006 is now £405 and £435, as opposed to £440 and £455.

well that's a quality way to get the brand new car market back on it's feet

and basically it's saying if you want to buy a car in the future it'll have to run on fresh air, who the hell is going to spent nearly a grand on tax?

so other than it jumping up a bit more than usual, all us newage sti owners will pretty much pay what we are now? sweet

If I read the table right, yes. Pre 23 March 2006 will stay in band k.

* Band K includes cars that have a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006. These cars will stay in band K.

Check out www.parkers.co.uk and their car road tax calculator for a price of your cars road tax in the next couple of years.

After the pre budget report my 54 plate STI has gone from a proposed £440 next April to £215 .

Petrol hasn't gone up, it's come down 1/4 of a pence, they added 2p per litre but there's the 2.5% VAT to come off

I thought the vat stayed the same for alcohol tobacco and petrol.

A higher band rate was introduced on the 23rd march 2006, vehicles registered after this date with emissions higher than 225g/km fall into this cat

my point is irrespective of registered date a car manufactured in 2004 is twice as much to tax as a 2006 car registered before March 06,its ridiculous.
This whole car tax thing should be done on annual mileage or manufacture date not the first registered in the UK date

Regarding imports I assume it's much easier to do it on first registered (in the UK) than first manufactured and there would be less chance of fraud. Still have 2 Imprezas TC?

I dont begrudge paying the £400 road tax but i just find the whole thing ridiculous,having 2 tax bands for the exact same car
