pain Patches?
i recently saw my consultant for my back and he told me he would write to my doctor and suggest i have pain patches
i assume these are a bit like the smoking patches, you stick them on.they are slow release but you put them over the pain.
ive looked on the net for these patches and can only find some that are opiate based. they are used for heroin withdrawal. i think they leave you monged out. they come in three different strengths.i dont want to be monged, is there anything else out there
does anyone know what i am talking about?
thanks in advance

i have lost some lower discs from dehydration and from rupture and i have a narrowing of the spine which causes Sciatic pain which makes you want to die. i also have facet joint syndrome but no one will talk to me about that.
i was originally offered a spinal fusion but it will not take my pain away as there are other parts that hurt and its only 50 50. if i was older i would have it but now.
life is **** when you are in pain all the time. i am having a good day today with pain, you will tell when i have a bad day

May be Buprenorphine - its available as a patch (Transtec) that is changed every three days or another patch (BuTrans) that is changed every seven days
Buprenorphine is classed as a "strong" painkiller.
Drug from memory - patch details from Google

My mum was on pain patches (and a million other pain relievers) when she had terminal cancer.
They did help and would have needed to be strong to do anything at all. I guess there's probably many types, but she was on fentanyl or sommat at a high dose.
Hope you get some decent assistance with your back troubles, sounds nasty.
Cheers,
Tom

yep they are the ones i looked up. seemed a bit heavy duty for back pain, more for cancer or something. when i saw they were used instead of Methadone i stopped looking
i tried Tramadol and thought i was losing it after only a couple of doses
Abdaz (sp), i hope i dont need to pm you if you know what i mean
thanks for the offer anyway!
