Shamelessly lifted from Wikipedia:

Although only five F1 LMs were sold, a sixth chassis exists in the form of XP1 LM, the prototype for modifications to the existing F1 to form the new F1 LM. This car is also painted Papaya Orange and is retained by McLaren. This car, reportedly worth $4 million, has been promised by McLaren CEO Ron Dennis to his driver Lewis Hamilton if he should win an additional two Formula One World Championship titles.

Absolutely disgusting that it's only done 90km on the road.

I used to drive past that car on a regular basis on my way down to Hyde Park corner and always fancied popping in to ask for a test drive. Obviously I would have kept my car running outside the shop just in case they declined

Do you have battery trouble too?

What do you find to do at Hyde Park Corner anyway?

Hyde Park Corner, the best oval test track that London has to offer. If you time it right and the lights are in your favour, you can hoon it around the whole roundabout in one go. Though watch out for the coppers that usually are stationed on the northbound side of Park Lane. I got told off once too many

I suspect its previous owner paid more than £600k for it?

You are dead right Swiss. We used to drive up there in the evenings so that we could do just that. Best in the wet because it did not wear the tyres out! I still remember my Lotus Cortina exiting at 90 degrees to the kerb with my old school mate driving it. Now that was a good handling car!

Happy days.

It was a Mk 1 with the A frame, it had the better roadholding and I modified the back axle to stop the torque being taken by the axle tubes which stopped the leaks from the diff. I also fitted a limited slip diff and tweaked the motor with Cossie CPL2 cams and did all the porting too. It had the full aluminium gearbox and diff castings as well as ali bonnet, doors, and boot lid. The exhaust was shortened to exit under the passenger door and used to make ladies' poodles tangle their leads up!!

It was the LS diff which caught my mate out at Hyde Park and caused the very sideways trip towards Knightsbridge! He held it all together very well though.

I reckon they could do a lot worse than re-release the F1 again, it's still one of the most amazing looking supercars, its looks haven't dated at all IMO.

Imagine if McLaren updated it a bit, using an updated engine e.g. the Mercedes unit used by Zonda, and brought the suspension etc bang up to date. That'd be a lovely machine.
