Suggest a holiday destination for me for this saturday!
Hi All
Desperate for a getaway for about a week - 10 days.
I want to switch the mobile off, not take a laptop (being the first holiday since I sold scoobynet it will be the first time in nearly 10 years I've gone on holiday without the need for constant internet access!) and plan to workout and swim every day, eat great healthy fresh food, and recharge the batteries!
Spec needs to include :
- Sunshine!
- Ideally a flight time of less than 6 hours - but negotiable for the right suggestion
- Romantic / Luxury / etc
- A decent sized personal private pool would be a huge plus!
Over to you!

make it 10hrs and goto Jamaica or any of those islands
you will chill and eat well.
phones should always be off and laptops should never be taken away on holiday otherwise it defeats the object of having one

Thanks shaggy, hadn't even thought of tunisia.. will have a look round.
Thanks also, paul. I really thought about Jamaica / Caribbean. I've never been. I've always thought of it as more of a beach holiday rather than a private villa type place. I've also been told its quite dangerous unless you're in a resort, in some places.
I assume you've spent some time there.. any pointers?

Tel Aviv!!
there at the moment and well impressed!
No different from a "western" city, on the coast, is 29 degrees and the girlies are pretty!!
Oh and loads of bars/clubs and golden sandy beaches
4 1/2 hour flight

thanks guys...
Lisa, I've spent a lot of time in Dubai for work, so not so keen on that, and I'd rather go to Egypt for a few days en route to somewhere else, just to see it, rather than to do the full holiday. But thanks for your suggestions
getting quite drawn to bahamas now.. having drifted to it looking around at caribbean.
Anybody got any experience?

Thanks a lot Chief and Nat
I looked at Phuket (I prefer my pronounciation! ) .. but it seems like a right ball-ache to get to it?
I just stumbled upon the one and only ocean club in the bahamas (where bond stayed in casino royale).. turns out the room he stayed in is $9000 a night!! I said 'erm.. I'll call you back!'

Seeing as Thailand has been mentioned......
Book yourselves a week here - one of the nicest hotels I have ever "done"
::Felix River Kwai Resort:: Kanchanaburi - Home
Then get up to Chiang Mai and have a totally chilled out week here
Hmong Lodge Home
Add time in Bangkok / Chiang Mai / any Thai island into the mix as required

i heard the same about venturing out and to only do it on guided tours, I suppose it depends on what you want fromthe holiday, if oyu just want to chill by the pool, or have relative tranquility then it may be ideal.
From reading about the islands around there I would say try Aruba, it looks really nice but I am not sure if there is much to do there, and i don't think it is a kids holiday type place

Maldives -
No shoes, no News as the locals say!
Really is the most chilled and idyllic holiday i have ever been on. Fantastic fresh food, you feel like you are there on your own. Flight is a ball ache though.
The island i went to was Kuramathi. Highly recommended.
