BBC NEWS | Politics | Pet owners face code of practice

Well what a fantastic use of our tax

To hell with leaflets on "How not to be ripped off by your bank" or "Where to go when you're homeless".

A Defra spokesperson said "We think it is essential to involve ourselves in family life in these challenging times. In fact we plan to include health checks on all domestic cats as an extension to the NHS and we will drop some non essential cancer research to fund this important development"

I can just see the bloody cat now, watching me dash round the room after a ping-pong ball while tapping the phone with its paw and the council's abuse hotline on speed dial...

You'll just need to complete the 87 page application form (Polish version on-line now) and provide a CRB (cat records bureau) check. Provided you don't smoke and are gay you should get a licence.

Note we provide orphaned, disabled and ethnic cats at a discount.

LOL, it's like Childline for pets! I will enjoy not only giving my daughter the number to call because she can't have the latest toy, but the cat as well!

I wish I could catch the ****, err cat, that sits on my car in the car-port and scratches the bonnet as it slides off the front in the mornings. Nice four claw marks in the top-coat It will have few rights under the rules of combat if I do get lucky enough to trap it, which I will eventually

It is honestly difficult to believe this sort of thing even from this load of clowns!

Do you knoe whether they are likely to produce some really significant information, such as how pensioners can claim what is legally due to them instead of keeping it a secret so they don't claim?

You must explain the full extent of your final remarks, or were you joking?

Thank goodness for that! You had me going there-especially since I feel the same way as you about what they might think up next!
