Default Layby's

What is it with any little bit of space in a secluded area always has a solitary person sat in their car, what the f*ck are they doing, I see it all the time when cycling, people, just sat there looking shifty.

I can understand taxi drivers waiting but I pass a bloke in a Fiat Brava sat on a secluded lane every few mornings, some mornings there is an old woman in an Escort.

They are the one's who didn't have a satnav bought for them for xmas and are too stupid or blind to read a map, so they just sit there in blind panic.

We get this round here, nearly deads sat in some crappy layby full of truckers, burger vans and mess at the side of a busy A road eating their home made sarnies. IT'S THE YORKSHIRE DALES FFS!!! Half an ounce of common sense mixed with a 2 minute detour off the A road and you'll have somewhere nice to stop with a view of the best county in the land!

Yep, I took a detour through the Dales rather than enduring the A1 on the way from Darlington, breathtaking and remarkably quiet considering, funny how so many go past the Dales to get to the Lakes (also nice) and then get amazed by how busy it is and what a toilet Bowness is in summer.

Sal and I did that once, we'd not been going out long at the time. She got on the map and off we went, quietly enjoying the views. Half an hour later Sal asked where we were, 'great' I thought 'she's got us lost!'. Turns out that if you put Sal in a car, she will go to sleep! Still, it was a cracking drive and now we have satnav!

(for the record, when she's awake, Sal is better route planner than any satnav on the market! )

I should bloody hope so, no wonder you got lost, as you probably were wondering why you were in a ditch

I must admit, I was a bit concerned when she balanced the map on the steering column / dash but she assured everything would be fine!!

Think that's a bit harsh. The main drag is full of tourist but get off the main street and into the side streets and there are loads of nice café's, pubs & restaurants. Holidayed there for years. Old man used to have a power boat on Windermere.

Have to admit though, I do prefer going to Keswick these days. Would love a little holiday home there. One of the big ******* on the side of Winderemere would be nice too.

Yes, perhaps, Blackpool is a toilet, Bowness is merely just a bit too busy and annoying, though the bit at the side of the lake, the huge pub and restauraunt complex is a bit skanky.
