Default I need to find someone who agrees...

that pink icing, pink marshmallows, and all things confectionary which are pink, taste different to the white versions...

I refuse to eat all of the above pink stuff, as I think it has a distinct flavour difference which I do not like.. my other half, and now his parents ( who learnt of this 'foible' tonight) think I have gone mad in the head...

Before they commit me to psychiatric care, there must be someone out there who can identify with what I am saying.. so I can give them a well earned *prays*

I think orange smarties and M & Ms taste orange-like, despite there being no orange juice/flavouring in them.

Similar line to your thinking

Of course it tastes different. They get the red food colouring from beetle blood so its bound to have a bit of tang.

Pink food is the equivalent of the ginger step-child.

Close, Cochineal is a fluid produced by the beetles as a self defence, it's a pungent acid used to deter predators, and rarely used in foodstuffs these days as it's too expensive, and the lentil-eating brigade get upset when you slip it in their food

I agree that pink marshmallows taste different, but is it the taste or the smell that causes the effect. Try eating raw onion with your nose pinched shut, it tastes of apple, as a significant proportion of "taste" is produced by the scent molecules of what's being eaten being detected by the olfactory organs as well as the taste mechanisms in the mouth. That's why food taste of nothing or just plain sh1te when you have a cold, as your nose is bunged up with snot.
