Is it democracy or gullibilty to vote for X Factor?
Who votes here? It may be worth the 30p plus to have your voice heard on issues of national fun and interest (after all if the appalling 'Girl Band' was to beat the talented beautiful Ruth Lorenzo who could I then blame when i didnt vote???). Nevertheless I am interested to hear of people's thoughts on the whole viewer participation opportunity. Any thoughts? Is it fair, valued, democratic, affordable and fun???

This is the first year I've paid any attention to it, to be honest. But I have to confess that I have been tempted (not actually done it yet though) to phone in a vote for Laura White A properly shaped woman with a great voice
I always feel that the problem with these shows is that the eventual winner puts all this effort into proving the can sing a great song, only for their first chart release to be yet another second rate dirge written by another failed '80s popstar

what really annoys me about this song is when contestants who are 26 are interviewed and say 'I have always wanted to be a singer'...... then you find out they are working in a shop or something....if they wanted it so bad why did they not start singing in pubs, clubs, doing the hard rounds..... they are just lazy gits who think they deserve stardom.

These sort of phone ins were proven last year to be a huge con weren't they?
Also, I don't think the public have a huge say in who wins these things. I think Simon Cowell decides that

And remember Leona Lewis last year

I don't vote, and don't really know who they are, but if she's the blonde girl she'd get my vote, she's the only one who I want to hear sing again, and the only one who stands out as different

Leona had already had an album out before X factor and they never got to the bottom of if she had a previous record contract (which is not allowed under the shows rules). Be that as it may, I find the whole thing manipulative and exploitative and I find Louis and Simon are like some muppet charicatures.

Its just a load of bollox.
Anyone who wastes their money on these stupid programs deserves a slap.
They decide way in advance of the end of the show who is going to win. They manipulate the audience by giving those they think won't sell on the open market sh1te songs to sing and those that will sell easy songs that everybody knows and joins in with.
Its the pinnacle of audience manipulation, closely followed by Big Brother.

I read a book written by Ben Elton called Chart Throb, it was a fictional take on a Xfactor type talent show but he's got it so right on a number of levels that you can't help to draw parallels with what's going on in Xfactor.
In the book, when going through the entries (before they get invited to audition) everyone gets put into one of three catagories, Mingers, Clingers and Blingers. Mingers is obvious, Clingers are the needy ones bound to burst out crying, Blingers are the attractive ones...

Anyone else want to assasinate Louis Walsh?
He is incapable of giving sensible, honest criticism. It's either amazingly amazing: "you look like a popstar, you sound like a popstar" pish, or it's slagging them off in a petty, childish way.
Simon Cowell at least talks some sense, and gives his opinion(even if it may be to benefit himself).

Simon Cowell has never had a hit with a girl band (apparently...... I heard Louis Walsh say it on X factor, Xtra factor, Xfactor catch up. Xtreme factor, Big Brothers Little brother (same show, same eejit, different sh1te)).
I think Holly Willoughby should be locked up in my basement for her own good so that she doesn't turn into one of these muppets
