Default Need help with creaking bed

Have a new bed that's driving me mental.

Metal framed bed, all lovely and sturdy apart from one of the supporting cross members (not one of the slats, a bracing cross member). It's a piece of powder coated box section maybe 40mm x 15mm that sits in u shaped bracket on the side supports. Nut and bolt run through bracket and cross member to secure.

Unfortunately, once mattress is in place and people on the bed, this cross member squeaks and rattles as people turn over or shuffle in bed, slightest movement and squeak squeak creak creak.

I've tightened the nuts as far as they will go and have added bigger washers but now at a loss as to what to do.

Would something like this help...?
Evo Stik Liquid Metal Grab Adhesive 663619 C20, 5000403109367

Anything else I can do?

You may find it easier to just tie the people to the bed so they don't move...

try the rubber washer option , if that doesn’t work, bin it and get a big sturdy wooden one.

Unfortunately, this one replaces a very big wooden one, it had to go because in our new place, we couldn't open the wardrobes!

Rubber washers on shopping list.

Whilst the above pic is very nice, , I do feel that whoever has applied the restraints here, hasn't quite grasped the main idea?

Perhaps she was on her front when they were applied and has now turned over. Depends what they had in mind I suppose

I find performing your "bedroom exercises" across the bed..rather than up/down the bed..really reduces the creak factor......

Try to use copperslip if you can as this should help cut a lot of the noise.

Also try sanding some of the paint off where the surfaces are rubbing as the powercoating can amplify it a bit as its not a completely smooth surface.

Right, had a closer look and there is no room for rubber washers as they'd have to go between the u bracket and member. The fact the U is <1mm bigger than box is causing the problem as there is not enough give in the U to get a proper grip of the box section and not enough room to get the washers in.

But armed with the rubber washer suggestion (thanks chaps), I had some decent glue that sets fairly flexible (like silicon sealant) so I've horsed a load of that round and it seems to have helped a bit in that it has filled some of the gap but is also taking some of the movement when it shifts.

Tonight will tell when it's properly cured and has heavy mattress and heavy people on it. If that doesn't work, I'm off down the motor factors...

Thanks for the pointers all
