Three / 3 Mobile Phone Network Provider , need help
Hey up everyone, anyone else on here with Three / 3 for their mobile phone? I ask cos I've been with them for almost 12 months now and in terms of cost per month they have been pretty good. Im more of a text person so their deal of 500 free texts per month - as oppossed to 500 free minutes per month - for £15.00 has been fine for me.
However, I remember when I originally took out the contract through their website - it may be the same now, I havent checked so not sure - when you chose your handset, some of the handsets had little tiny letter 'R's next to the picture, I investigated why and found it stood for 'Refurbished'. Pretty much all the handsets without the 'R' you had to pay a small fee to get the handset and start your contract. So, for £15.00 a month I paid £60 for a brandnew Sony Ericsson K800i. Came in the post, worked fine, job done.
11 months on, Im now told by them I can upgrade my handset, cool! So I go on their website to look up the handsets available as an upgrade and they have these 4...
Sony K770i
Sony K530i
Nokia 6500
Nokia 6120
Now, in this day and age of things being updated and given a new model number, eg a Blobeye Scooby is newer than a Bugeye kinda thing. Why on earth would I want to "upgrade" to a Sony K770i from a Sony K800i ??????? Thats not an upgrade! Let alone the K530i !!!!! I did some looking around on Sonys website to find the specs of the K800i are better then both the K770i and the K530i, the model number is a dead give away!
Not sure about the specs of the Nokias, but is 3 having a laugh here ?! After paying them for 11 months they want me to stay with them and sell me an older phone!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've discovered that at the end of any mobile contract, to negotiate a better deal you are better off switching to Pay As you Go for one month with another provider, then going back to your original provider to gaggle over a new contract.
Because of the switch, you are then treated as a new customer and will get the network subsidy put towards the cost of your phone.
It's a bit of a faff, but works.
