Default Meter exchange?

Anyone else had a notice (by post) or had this work carried out yet? The company is called National Grid Metering working on behalf of National Grid & they want to "exchange" our old meter for a new one in the morning. Should I be worried or is it all legit

TX.

Do you think that it may be an elaborate scam to steal your reading?

Give them a call and tell them that you've bypassed the meter anyway so they don't need to bother changing it. If you end up in court, then you'll know it was legit

IIRC meters have to be changed every so often to make sure that they remain accurate. Translates to "meters have to be changed every so often to make sure they don't under read"

It might well be genuine.
There's a roll out programme round my way to replace all the old electricity meters with new ones that the power companies have a direct kink to. The idea is to avoid estimated bills.

Our house was built in 1994 so the meter is 14yrs old ... does 14yrs warrant a change? My concern is that if they are scallywags they may wire it up to over read etc etc. I've never heard of them or any UK wide programme to replace meters basically

Take the reading and serial number of your old meter before its removed and do the same with the new one,
I had a gas meter swapped and a month later got a £1000 gas bill, took a lot of bother to sort it out as they said they hadnt swapped my meter.
I have to be honest I didnt think the radio read meters were for domestic properties.

After its fitted, make sure there's not a trailing cable running down the road to the caravans parked on the verge.

We had the gas meter changed a few weeks ago - all legit, no problems (unless you count the fact that they still haven't worked out that other people are at work during the day too...)

we had the one in our other house done a few years back, they change them from the dial to the digital {or they did with ours} very quick and pretty aggro free tbh.

It's been changed. They've left the boiler unlit though so no heating (not that we need it at the mo) & no hot water It's not digital though
