Police chiefs were last night forced to urge drivers not to exploit the shortcoming by trying to evade the cameras.

It's not that they don't work, it's that they weren't approved by the home office for multi-lane use. So you would have been caught, but not prosecuted. This loophole has now been closed I believe! I certainly wouldn't try it, anyway!

Plus it is 50/50 as one camera could be looking at either lane so if you swap and so does the cam then you are screwed.
weirdly these aren't such a bad thing in roadworks, seems to keep things moving by making everyone slow down so the repmobiles are cutting everyone up and causing a jam.
elsewhere though a right pain in the behind.

what happens if you are driving a cloned car, and co-incedentally the clone car hits the last camera, 1 second after you hit the first !!!

I've got cruise control for those stretches - it could have been invented for average speed cameras. Though I try to change lanes if I remember as well, also tuck behind lorries at the cameras. Anything to try not to get a ticket.
But search on this forum 'cos there was a thread recently and a link was posted that indicated that the loophole was now closed! You have been warned .....
