If we go into full blown prolinged recession, it will affect everyone in some way shape or form.

With regards to your savings, it is unlikely they will be at risk, just spread them around with high street banks and you'll be fine - remember the government guarantees up to £50,000

You will doubtless lose nothing if you've been sensible and spread the risk amongst a few different institutions regulated by the FSA.

Well apart from the fact your 'fair amount' is worth between 10 and 25% less than it was a short time ago because your currency is on the way to being worthless.

Maybe not in the very near future. Euro is looking vulnerable. I'd still rather have them than sterling though.

Yeah I thought they proposed to guarantee up to 50k - but its still only 35k currently?

FTSE is down almost 5% already - going to be interesting what the DOW does when it opens!.....

Watch SWAP rates and hence mortgage rates take off in the coming weeks increasing the severity of the house price crash further still!!

mortgage and loan availablity is the obvious issue. Less noticable is that businesses will have less access to finance and hence wont be able to grow so quickly, putting future prosperity under risk. Especially coupled with Government waste and high taxation of course
