Holiday club memberships ??
Cousin is just back from Spain where within the first few hours she was approached by the usual "" here is a scratch card etc, etc, etc...... Oh look you have one a prize "" !!! yep timeshare or holiday club as they now call it !!
so okay she went along and sat thru there hours off drivel, informed them that they had not long arrived in teneriffe and that she and her partner would go away and think about it during there weeks stay over there and then get back to them if they wanted to proceed, at this stage the sales person became abusive and informed them that if they did not make up there mind on that particular evening then they would be "" blacklisted "" from the holiday club !!!!
pity as she did say she was very impressed with the holiday complex itself and the overall set up / idea although it was comming to somewhere in the region off around 3-4k to join up she was genuinly interested but like most folk would did want to have a think on it.
so okay apart from the unbelivable attitude regards them being so called " blacklisted " !!!!!!!!!!!!!! just wonder what are the downsides to this whole holiday club idea ?
from asking around a few other folk it appears that amongst other things there are ever increasing so called yearly maintanice charges also the price off getting a flight only over there can sometimes be not that much cheaper than you would pay for a package holiday itself.
so okay anything else that proves the whole idea is just time share rebadged , and should be avoided at all costs ??

i dont see the point of timeshares,
to me its like paying up front for your holiday for the next few years,
and i know you can swap them for different resorts and times, put why get one in the first place to swap.
and i dont like the idea of goinf on set dates,
(stands by for criticism).

With airlines folding or having financial difficulties throughout the world due to fuel prices, there is NO WAY I would even consider investing in something that relies on cheap air travel to be used.

As had been said avoid.
Some reasons:
1) you pay a lot up front and they may fold, hence you loose all your money.
2) you generally still have to pay for flights
3) you have to pay yearly charges
4) they may not have the holiday that you want one year
5) I could go on but you get the idea
