Default METALLICA: Death Magnetic!

The new Metallica album "Death Magnetic" is the stuff!

Bought it yesterday and it is really good!

Suprised how they went back to their heavier roots, in fact I'd say it is their heaviest album to date.

Dont drive with this on in the Scooby and the family aboard, you might get a bollocking, because you will want to drive fast! Great driving music!

Dropped through my letter box this morning and had a listen when I went out in the car, brilliant album, brings back shades of Load, Reload and Black Album. A huge improvement over the percussion based St. Anger album.

Very impressed

I found St. Anger sounded good on a music channel on TV but I really got sick of it within two songs when it was on in the car or iPod. Just found it too much. This is much better, got it on now as well, the neighbours will be impressed

I too stopped buying after the black album, which I do like by the way. I watched the culture show special on them the other week. It said that the new album was likely to be like the earlier albums. If that is the case, I may go and get a copy! As long as the songs are a bit shorter than the ones on And Justice...

There are 10 tracks on the album, the songs are long-ish but do not get boring that is for sure!

Firsty impressions are that it`s great. Need to few more plays to see how good it really is.

I thought that too but on further listening I reckon about half of the album is pretty good and the rest is above-average filler but filler nonetheless. Still,. MILES better than St Anger.

Agreed, although there is quite a few good albums around these last couple of months. Depending on how heavy you like it, the latest offerings from Slipknot, Black Stone Cherry, Airbourne (can you say AC/DC?), Dragonforce (same old, but still great shredding) are all pretty good and the new AC/DC album is due out shortly too. On another track (sic) for a bit of blues rock the latest Joe Bonamassa live album is pretty bloody good too!

Are you serious???

Yes I do agree that there are some good things out there now, even the latest Satriani is heavier.

Certainly, I am quite partial to a bit of AC/DC from time to time. OK, they aren't Lamb of God and are no Mastodon but a bit of the ol' 12 bar boogie doesn't hurt every now and then

Apparently they were on Jools Holland this week, I missed it but it's on iPlayer - I'm watching it now, they've not been on yet.

I will be buying this album on Friday and I can't wait. It will be my first album I have actually brought from a shop in a long time. (lots of itunes downloads)

I did not really like their last album, St Anger. It was too 'heavy' for me. But I like the rest of their albums especially S&M and the Black Album.

4 days into listening to Death Magnetic and it's a resounding yes from me.

Some nice elements of Master and ....And Justice with the odd nod to The Black Album. The boys are back on form for sure

Can I also suggest Testament - "The Formation of Damnation" (for old you old school Bay Area thrash fans )

Lastest Slipknot album's not too bad, either...........
