Default Spraying clear plastic/perspex ?

i need to spray my motorbike screen,its clear/perspex type.
i want it matt black.

whats the best way, plastic primer the underside, then spray matt black on the underside so it shows thru as its clear but wont get scratched on the outside ?
is plastic primer clear ?

any other ideas

Mmm, that should be fun looking through. Why not spray your crash helmets visor as well?

You can get clear plastic primer, autopaints in Liverpool is where I got mine from, but most paint mixers should be able to help. You will still have to key the surface so it binds, so you'll have to take care with how you do that so it doesn't appear scratched - I'd suggest scotchbrite, but I'm just and enthusiastic amateur

Coloured windscreens on your bike? That takes me right back... Mine was red with a bright edge.

Wouldnt it be easier and far better to buy a screen formed out of opaque black perspex?

I agree with GC8. If you try to form a key for the primer if it needs it, it is bound to show surely. I though they produced some kind of a film to do that job anyway.

How about using some Tamiya or similar paint?
It works on scale model clear shells without primer and as it's sprayed on the inside it'll withstand stonechips
