Online purchases using current account - are you covered?
I bought a scissors set for my wife on the 19th August. They were expensive so I decided to buy from the states in an attempt to save some cash. Site looks perfectly fine and although I'm having problems I don't believe it to be a scam site.
Anyway, the money was taken from my account and after a few days I emailed to ask if the order was placed and on route. First email says yes order is placed and what size scissors did I want.
My 2nd email asks if the order has been sent and I get the reply that the order has been placed with the supplier and I will get a tracking number soon. That was the 24th August.
I emailed Friday night asking for the tracking number but have not had a reply.
What I want to do is IF I haven't got a tracking number by Friday I want my money back. If they cut up rough do I have any cover having bought with the current account card?

Bet the wife can't wait to get her gift off you.
Face smiles after being presented with a wrapped present.
The height of anticipation as she gently rattles it, wondering what great gift she'll be given off her loved one.
Eyes beaming as she gently unwraps the paper from the packaging.
Thoughts of what she knows you'll like, as a reward for your obvious generosity.
Glee quickly turn to anger when behold................ a Scissor set.
Fan-bl00dy-tastic she thinks...... get me something to cut quick !!!!!!!!
Preferably her husbands head off.
I saw these, and thought of you dear.

It's the Consumer Credit Act that provides you with the cover. This applies to credit cards, not debit cards. Hence I make all my purchases using a credit card on and off-line.
Provided you can get one in the first place there is no reason not to have a credit card, just set it up so it is automatically paid off in full each month and be sensible. Firstly the purchase protection you get under the CCA is well worth it and secondly I get paid to shop with mine as Egg Money gives you back 1% of everything you spend
Speak to you bank about your purchase though as they may be able to do something to recover your funds.

Hmmm, I remember my dad buying my mum a knife set for Christmas, what a foolish mistake, on two levels
Don't think there is much cover for you if you use a normal debit card, as said, Credit Cards are covered for this sorta thing. I've managed to claw money back using the bank to do it once though, they asked me to fill in a form to say why I was taking the money back, so they were covered if I was messing about. Not sure if you can do that but may as well ask your bank. Good luck!

LOL, shes a hair dresser.
They are the "Hartori Hanso" of scissors. The pic is from the site I bought the scissors from. Like I said it is genuine I'm just having a royal pain getting them.

As above really. You are covered only if you pay by credit card. It is worth buying almost any expensive (above £75) item by credit card as you get insurance for 3 months against accidental damage as well.
