Default How to start a section on an application form ?

There is one section to tell them why you want the job, how you match the spec etc ... how do you start it ??

I dont like to start things with I ...

Any suggestions.. doesn't need to have anything to do with the job just need an opening line ..

For Cliff's sake tell 'em how good the company is,"I yearn to work for a multi-national(or whatever is applicable) and my qualifications combined with the buoyant market will make a successful affiliation"....

....pity it never worked for me that's why I'm taking a blind rabbit for a **** up the great park.

Seriously big-up the company(chav talk)....

You could always start with something along these lines (obviously I have no idea what you are applying for)...

Following an extended period of working for a large retail outlet, I am extremely interested in the opportunity of working with your organisation.....

or,

The opportunity that you have on offer is of extreme interest to me, etc etc etc

or,

After a great deal of chafing from working in the **** industry, I am ready for a new challenge...

Depends who you're moving to/from etc...

Try "My ambition has always been to..." or "<company name, role> offers me an excellent opportunity to..."

There's nothing wrong with starting with "I" but you don't want it starting every para.

Just avoid padding it out with boring cliches and get to the point.

So don't say "Having read the job description with much interest I feel able to take on new challenges...... etc"

Rather "I am applying for this job as I my experience closely matches what is required and I am looking for a position close to my familly home".

Nothing says 'I'm the man for the job' better than a simple photo, showing you pointing directly at them and winking, in my experience. Maybe with both hands...
