Help with getting into London
#1
Avoid Hyde park corner like the plague. I try to. If you are doing m4 a4 then you could always chuck a right at Earls court road (just after the huge Supermarket and all the expensive billboards on the a4) That will take you all the way down to the north bank of the Thames and after that all you have to do is follow it round till you get to Vauxhall bridge.
After the Junction with the TV screen on it, The road will snake right then left as you go over a bridge then you get to a supermarket and all the stupid billboards. then there is a huge junction, go straight over it and you will see a right hand filter, take it and follow the road round to the right, down the one way street. keep going down there till you get to the embankment, then follow it to Vauxhall.
Hope this helps,
astraboy.

Presume you're going South over Vauxhall Bridge?
On that basis...
M4/A4 in until you get to a massive Tescos on the LHS. Over the traffic lights at that junction and get into R/H lane and take the filter right down Earls Court Road. Follow this road straight down for about 2 miles and you will veer left as you get to the river. Follow river for another 3 miles and at the 4th bridge, turn right - this is Vauxhall Bridge.
Anything else is bogweed as far as ease of routes goes...

Cheers guys, just been out and got a street map, you never know!, and that looks like a top idea.
I assume that there are no problems on the embankment?
Last time I was in London it was shut and took me over 2 hours to get from St Katharines dock across to the M4
I'm actually going to visit a relative in King's college hospital, but looks a peice of cake once I'm across the bridge.

Got on OK Puff, thanks for the concern. All apart from the Embankment being closed between Chelsea and Vauxhall bridges (going towards Vauxhall) where they were doing something with a crane, so we had a bit of a detour up Buckingham Palace Rd.
Parked in the hospital car park, and took everything removable out of and off the car, but it was in on piece when we got back - I was somewhat relieved to say the least.
What a lovely area though
Thanks again m8, if you are ever delivering up this way and want directions give me a shout!

Guys got to come up to London this weekend and get across Vauxhall bridge.
I've done 2 route planners, 1 on RAC and 1 on Multimap, but they send me in different ways, just wondered if anyone knew if one would be better than the other.
I'm coming along the M4, Multimap says to go straight in along the A4, through Kensington etc and round Hyde Park Corner and RAC say to go uo and onto the M41/A40 and down the A5 (Park Lane) to Hyde Park Corner.
I'm sure both will be hell, but is one better than the other for any reason? Any local chaps with any advice?
Cheers

Should be straightforward, but you can't do a right turn up Denmark Hill when you get to Camberwell Green.
Probably easiest to do a left then a U-turn safely rather than straight on & try the same trick.
Oh & AFAIK Embankment is currently clear of probs.

D'oh nothing is ever straightforward is it!
Can I go straight over Denmark Road, and take second right into Grove Lane and then double back to Denmark Road on Daneville Rd? Or is it real easy to U-turn on Denmark Rd?
I assume I can get off Denmark Rd by the hospital?

Yeah - you can do that, but I normally would do the TL & U-turn thingy as the road at that point is quite wide & most people who'd want to turn left there have already taken the road before...
However, I am a courier by trade
& NP turning right into Bessemer Road by the hospital
