Usain Bolt and his 9.69
Was anybody else as stunned as myself at the margin of victory and sheer ease with which he ran a new WR??
The margin reminded me of the Ben Jonhson days. Powell's facial expression in his post race interview was one of absolute disbelief.
100 metres travelled from a standing start in 9.69 seconds!

Awesome race. I don't agree with Johnson's comments about 'Micheal who?' when comparing one gold of Bolt with 7 of Phelps.

i hope he's clean too, but you've got to wonder with the way he just shot away and the rest were quite evenly matched, reminded me of one of the female athletes a while ago that was done for drugs, they showed replays of some of her races and they looked just like this with everyone else quite close and her a mile down the road.
Also the attitude of a lot of the athletes around dwain chambers on course when he was trying to get selected suggests to me that many of them use the drugs and he was seen as unlucky or just not careful enough to get caught. I did some work with an american sportswear manufacturer and one of the guys was telling me its a pretty open secret that the NBA and NFL players are all maxed out on stuff but its become accepted, obviously thats not olympics but you wonder

It's a shame that it's come to this, but when an Olympian outperforms the rest of the field by so much (in any physical discipline), drugs is one of the first considerations. Are the winners always drug-tested, or is it luck of the draw?

As i understand it the one of the problems with drug cheating is you could test him and he would be clean, the drug use takes place in off season training to improve and perfect the human skeleton and muscle beyond what is naturally possible. This is why they have off season 'random' testing but with planning supposedly it is possible to simply lay out the drug regime to avoid it.
I believe there also is or used to be a window in which the testing would ot occur of a month or a couple of months which was basically an invitation for anyone to do all their drug muscle work then, and then train normally for the rest of the time.

Should leave them to it, drugs or whatever, who cares, I would be interested to see it drop under 5 seconds !
Notice how its all Black Guys, us white fellas just aren't fast enough, genetically, at this level the differences practically rule us out, or is that me being racist ?

Stunning race to watch, and as much as i wish him all credit & success,
I hope it was gained naturally, it would be such a shame to find this one go wrong.
i recon sub 9 seconds is on the cards
8.9 by the seasons end.

Yes, there would be major agro, when in fact that comment was to do with someone not yet having come to light rather than a racial slur, but these days, rather than let it go it would have been the end of a career.
