How useless are the Police? part 2
A couple of weeks ago I wrote on here complaining about the aftermath of a burglary and associated car theft.
Well I am afraid I must eat a large dollup of humble pie.
The crime occurred on 30/6/8.
On 7/7/8 the perpetrator appeared in court, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 8 weeks in jail.
Last I heard, he was in Belmarsh
What can I say?
Well done to the boys in blue and my apologies for casting aspertions.
I must also give a thumbs up to the criminal justice system - Maybe a first on here.

2 things.
1 - good news.
2 - prisons are full to capacity. The govt wont admit it but there is almost a one in one our system going on. Its just silly, and if anything, undermining the legal system. People are serving as little as 25% of their terms. How does this make the AP feel I wonder. Not good I guess.
I am with the shoot them camp, but TBH its a waste of good ammo. I would say turn them into dog food but I would not feed my dogs on it.
Forget all this human rights crap, did the person "prisoner A" stab for their car keys have any human rights whilst they were being attacked??
Sorry that was 3 things.

things is - youre all probably going to vote Tory next election - and they wont sort it either. You need to double the number of prison spaces. At least UKIP are promising to do that

TBH, for all intents and purposes, the keys might well have been left in the ignition, as they were left unattended next to an unattended cash box. There was no assault of any kind involved in this offense.
The thief is a junkie and is probably beyond redemption, so I feel a longer prison sentence would be a waste of tax payers money.
Therefore I would say I have no problem with the sentencing.

best punishment (especially murderers and sex crimes) would be to fill a big transport plane up with them, fly over the sahara desert at about 1000ft and then drop them out without parachutes. Any that survive can then attempt to leave the sahara. If they manage it then society can give them another chance

A friend of a friend was recently in court charged with driving away from petrol stations without paying. They sentenced him to a period with a tag which he refused. He told the judge that he would not wear a tag and would rather go to prison. The judge offered him the chance to pay a fine which he refused on the basis that if he had any money he would have paid for his petrol. The end result was that he was let go.
