On this basis they'd not have a leg to stand on if they declined!

I should think so, yes.

It should never have gone to court. The school should have realised how utterly ridiculous they were being. Absolute waste of taxpayers money.

Here's the thing. if you want to wear a bangle, or a cross or a silver cast of an upsidedown turnip it has zero effect on your ability to absorb information and be educated. Which, is what you are at school for.

British girl banned from wearing cross at school :: Eurabia :: Hyscience
Daily Express: The World's Greatest Newspaper :: UK News :: Outrage over new ban on the cross

I am sure that Pete Right-on Brant or his sidekick Martin 2005 will be along to rubbish this and the sources soon...
Probably not then

Wearing a cross in a predominantly Christian country is a no, no...

from the express article - it seems the ones most concerned about getting them banned are the Right-ON PC fools who believe they know what is best for us all yet they still create more problems and divides - shoot 'em all!

The officials have told headteachers to ban jewellery except in “exceptional circumstances” when schools need to be “sensitive” towards other faiths. The “exceptions” include lockets worn by Muslims and Hindu bracelets.

But even Muslim leaders have join*ed the condemnation, arguing that all religious groups, including Christian*s, should be treated the same.

If I was the Mother I would force the issue and threaten to take them to court - There is precedence now surely.

I've got no issue with Asian (or any minority) children wearing their religious items... just as long as Christian and Catholic kids get treated the same .

I think that sums up the attitude of most people and is the common sense approach

I think any right minded person would feel exactly the same way.

Everyone or no one.

And since it seems that legally "everyone" is the right thing, then that should mean anyone that wants to wear religious items

She's certainly no stranger to the sweet trolley!

What a waste of money. All she wanted to wear was a little bracelet - how is that offensive?

Not worth worrying about really, let her dress as Mr T or Jimmy Saville if she actually turns up and does the work and learns something.

To be honest (and I don't expect anyone to agree with me on this so no doubt will get a shed load of abuse from the regular few and it may drag on) but I think rules are rules and if you don't like them then go somewhere else! She will have known the rule before enrolling at the school yet still chose to go there!
It's like me taking the golf course to court for not letting me wear a rugby shirt and trainers. I know the rules and must abide by them.
Now they have been forced to back down on this who knows what rules the kids will try and break next!
On another note, does religion play that much of a big part in the lives of 14 year olds or do you think she may have been trying it on a little?

I could be wrong, but I didn't think Sikhs were renowned for being terrorists.

Personally, I think it was all a waste of money. What's the harm in allowing someone to wear a small religious piece of jewellery? So long as now, all people are allowed that freedom, then all is well.

The rag heads are not Muslim terrorists, although they do threaten to kill themselves at the slightest perceived injustice. These were the self righteous who rose up when the evil British tried to prevent them from burning their wives alive, along with their dead husbands

My personal view is this was not about what may or may not be worn, but about be able to do as they wish and getting away with it. If you come to live in Britian surely you should abide by british rules irrespective of nationality or race. You come to live here by choice therefore should be able to abide by an easy rules as not wearing bracelets irrespective of purpose. soon they will not be able to stop kids doing anything as it will be against some law or another. Jewellery was not aloud to be worn in my school to create uniformity and discipline. which worked easy enough. A different subject but towns not calling xmas, xmas because it goes against certain faiths etc. its the world gone mad.

I know not everyone will not agree with my view, but surely its time simple rules are obeyed and needless and quite frankly time wasting pathetic cases like this get binned and we concentrate on bigger problems in the country.
