Wasn't that what we were saying LAST series, or was it the series before that. They need to do something to freshen it up, the "stars in a crap car" is getting a bit long in the tooth, and the let's by 3 old bangers and make complete ar$es of ourselves, and deliberatly sabotage James thing has been done to death. No I haven't got any better ideas, that's why I don't work in TV.

I've loved in until the previous series but this one has been painful and cringe worthy to watch

I'm still happy with them doing whatever they do -- I thoroughly enjoyed this series (with the possible exception of the Star in a Car as that wasn't very good).
Amazing to think that 6 episodes of anything was normal when I was growing up...

AFAIK the 3 Veyrons was an article for TG magazine only, but I could be wrong.
Finally .... on Andy Wilman's blog he mentions that Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) is the SIARPC.

So we made our weekly pilgrimage to Dunsfold under blue skies, to get some insider gossip on Sunday's show...
James kicks things off this week, driving around Japan in some cars you've never heard of, picking up a couple of interesting passengers along the way.
Back in Surrey, Richard gets his hands on the pig-ugly Gumpert Apollo, and then hands it to The Stig for a hot lap. We know it's a quick car, but you'll have to watch the show on Sunday to see if it's got what it takes to bag a place amongst the prettier exotica at the top end of the lap board.
Top Gear favourite Jay Kay drops in for a chat and has another bash at a lap in the Reasonably Priced Car. Everyone was banking on him to take the top spot on the celeb lap board and wipe the perma-smirk off Simon Cowellâ€'ss face in the process. The track's dry but the weather is warm enough to take the edge off a weedy engine's performance. 1:45.9 is the time to beat and Jay is hungry for victory.
Finally, the series signs off with a fight: Top Gear versus the Germans, and it's a proper battle so prepare to witness something special here. Just try not to mention the war.

And, we take a look at the best Japanese car manufacturer you've never heard of - Mitsuoka.

In the last show of the current series Jeremy, Richard and James take on their rivals from the German equivalent of Top Gear and, in doing so, face their toughest challenge yet - not mentioning the war. Plus, James drives some exceedingly strange Japanese sports people in an exceeding strange Japanese car and Richard attacks the test track in a remarkable concept car from Mazda.
