Picture this... Its your birthday... You go out with work (in a taxi) Come home in a taxi..

You get in.. and theres a note saying someone was messing with your car earlier but ran off.. put it in the garage when you get in... (Parents wont move the car due to tracker and blackjax)... I get in the car to move it... Just as the F%&^*ing police turn up.. I can't prove that I was 'just' going to put it in the garage... so being over twice over the limit I get banned.. can get it down to 13/14 with some course..

I realise that I was pis$ed, but was capable of driving forward and then reversing into my driveway... Just a shame that they had to turn up at that time.. and if I catch the theiving scum I will make sure im in court again. Probably accompanied by group 4 security!

So Do I sell the car or keep it and modify it... Bearing in mind that I will be 32 before my licence is clean, and what is my insurance going to cost me then?

Thats Tuff mate - I would sell, the way prices are going - what you get now will buy NEW in 12 months time!! You wont be able to insure an Impreza with a DD conviction will you??

By the way, the Police have NO way of knowing you DIDNT drive home have they?? so they have got to do you!! a little child could have been on the pavement and under your wheels and you wouldnt have been able to sleep - would you?

Why plead guity, were you not on your drive thus being on private property. Plus could you not prove that the car has'nt been driven by cold engine temps etc.......

This is Drunk in Charge, a mate got done for it years ago. You don't need to be on the road, just capable and "likely" to drive the car.

My mate had started the car, so he could use his car phone (you couldn't take them out in those days). Engine running, coppers walk past, interested in phone as haven't seen one, smell booze, nicked.

He didn't get a ban, as his brief succesfully pleaded needed license for work etc. He got 10 points and £1500.

He had been out with me in Covent Garden, celebrating me not getting banned for 121mph that day.

Ironic.

...and yet if the same thieving scum were caught in your garden (private property), beside your garage (containing your beloved car), with a collection of "breaking and entering" paraphernalia (including perhaps weapons) - they would walk free with a claim of insufficient evidence

Go on Mr Blunkett - say it isn't so!!!!!

What a bummer. You did the right and wrong thing.

I was well largered up one night with an ex, muppet hits her car, parked outside, I go out to have a go, police turn up, I'm (nearly) up for drunk in charge cos I had her keys on me - to turn the alarm off for gods sake

All went well in the end, she got the other's insurance and I wasn't nicked - glad I wasn't realy p***ed

Question

Why didn't you put your car in the garage before you went out?
