Practice my boy, practise. It'll be going on all this weekend as well.

Another fast jet just doing it now, but I can't make it out. Any idea what it is Stef?

There goes another one. If Stef doesn't come back soon, I'll be forced to cycle down there and see what's going on myself!

That narrows it down, F15, F18 or Mig

Used to have a supplier (AVX) whos office was under the flight path, always tried (and failed) to get a visit at RIAT time.

F22 Raptor doesn't hover, it's probably the F-35 Lightning II - JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) which looks similar to the raptor and does have VTOL capability.

** edit **
Thinking about it, when you say vertical hover, I'm guessing you mean that tail is pointing towards the ground and nose to the sky. I'm looking at this list of the flying displays and the 22 is listed on there, so you're right it is a 22, and it's probably doing it's fancy thrust vectoring thing that allows the vertical hover. If it was doing a horizontal hover then it'd be a 35, but I don't see the 35 listed on the flyers list.

Have to say I do rather like the Raptor, got a few pictures of it at the toronto airshow last year.

Not quite close enough to see - but can certainly hear. That Vulcan really kicks up a noise.

Markus, You're right, the F22 can't hover. What it can do however is sit on its tail, and HOVER!!

I've just seen it with my own eyes ( and an F18 and the Typhoon ) and couldn't believe it. What a machine, what a noise.

I'm guessing it's a "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" type move, as if anyone does, it'll flip back down and kick the attackers ****.

Ignore me, I'm just jealous and fed up, all I can see out of my window is rain, rain and more rain and the very real possibility of a bit of flooding later. Great!

Red Arrows have just done their practise as well. Still very impressive to watch.
Apparently the Raptor is only flying on Monday and then it's off Fairford so it won't be around on the Public days

Still got the Vulcan though

I can't wait until next Sunday to go to the show again It's a shame the car park exit is so poorly organised on the public days
