Energy price that you pay?
Just got a note through from e-on saying that my monthly bill for gas and electricity is now up to £200 per month. What do others pay?

Well, I think you need to specify what property and insulation etc you have otherwise any comparisons are meaningless.
An old uninsulated mansion will cost a lot more than a modern 1 bed flat.
We pay around £80 for gas and £80 for electric per quarter, more in winter. 3 bed townhouse.

hopeing the next one is even lower as we stopped using the last storage heater (dont use them in the summer) last month i think

£90 for Gas and £70 for Electric, 4 bed detached with 5 people, before any increase.
Why does there have to be another massive increase ?
Where is all this money going ?
Somebody is getting it !

Gas was a shade under £150 last quarter, so about £50 a month. That's a 4 bed house, three people and a NON-condensing combi boiler.
Don't know what the 'leccy is...not going to dig out the bills as my costs spreadsheet is on the laptop.

I have a 5 bedroom house with 2 children and 2 adults and pay about £90 a month for both. I just swapped to Scottish Power fixed to 2009 as EDF just put up the price by 40% (I was on some fixed deal that ended and they didn't seem to want to keep me a a customer).

Large 4 bed house, 2 adults, pay about £75/month for gas and elec combined. I'm also on Scottish Power fixed deal, though I think it has closed to new customers now.
£200/month is crazy, unless you live in a mansion or something...

Ouch - looks like we're hurting
Live in a modest 3 bedroom house - though it's old with no double-glazing. Have a very young family with central heating on a lot and the tumble dryer and washing machine on each day.
Looks like I need to shop around though!
Thanks for all the replies folks.

To cut costs, look at things that heat things.
I bet there's a LOT of hot water still there after showering and washing up. just put the boiler on for a minimal amount of time (1hr). Same goes for central heating, how much water in kettles, don't use oven for tiny amounts of food etc.

I think you must, like me, have the latest bill and the other quotes above are old! Somebody will confirm.
It looks like mine is going to be circa £130/month gas and £105/month electricity to cover the arrears that have suddenly been accrued since the last hike.

We are with Scottish Power, they are the best. 5 Bed farm conversion, so quite old.
£70 per month for Leccy and got no gas. Oil heating
Oil supplier wanted us to up our monthly payment to £300 per month to cover the big increases and to also put us about 1k in credit for the winter months. Like hell. Am putting the money into savings and checking out new suppliers

Gas has gone up now more or less in line with Leccy
that went up a bit back and is about 110 quid a month, Gas is now about 90 quid a month
2 adults, 4 kids, really need to cut the bills down, but its nigh on impossible, and no matter how much we try and save on gas and leccy, they still put the bills up by at least 40% each rise

Believe me, I'd see it as a personal flaw if I didn't. I check them all from time to time, and that is competitive. It doesn't help that I'm at home all the time, well except when I go out.
It'd be a fair assumption that I have more things operating on leccy than most so although its high and bordering on robbery I, like everyone, have to pay it.
As Sonic has said cutting back is nigh on impossible. It's purely a cost per unit issue thats at fault as I'm sure you're aware.

I saved myself £60 odd on my last 1300 litres by buying it on-line.

6 Bed detached, £128 per month, however if it's cold the heating goes on, I like it comfy enough to get out of bed without shivering!
Edited to say - Gas/Elec combined DD
