I would have one for under £200, group buy it is lol.
Especially if you can get it to record a good amount of data.

But I see the point about it working against them.

In the USA they are given out by insurance companies to prove fault at accidents.

Ever since being screwed over by bogus claims in an accient, I have wantd something like this. I looked into making something with an old laptop and webcam, but booting it every time you use the car would be a hassle.
This looks ideal, although the image frame rate is pretty low, its better than nowt.
I can also see the bad side if they becomme commonplace (or even standard equipment / compulsory additions) in that they will be the ideal evidence gatherer for speeding convictions.
Also, Its only one small step away from the gps-based road pricing systems...all it neds is an uplink to a central database to track your journey and charge you accordingly.

I can totally see the point in relation to these PI claim scams, but would it stand up in court?
