my first holiday abroad was to altinkum
visited Didim and hired a car (an old Lada) and drove up to Efesus an old historical place (efes beer)
enjoyed driving out of the tourist areas and seeing the country
but i got to say i didn't like the people (locals) in the tourist places
very rude and continually mithering you to go in their restaurant or shop
plus we had the ***** for 2 week and I got badly sunburned
this was October in about 93
went to Marmaris after and thats worse so at least it wont be that bad
plus its probably improved in someways and spoiled in others
its a holiday, enjoy
nice beaches
went to Pamukale as well, a must see place
July will be scorching
would like to know if the apple pie man still does the beaches
shouts "Apple pie" - " luvverly jubbly"
ahh, memories
i thought Didim was a few km inland

Didim is 'next to' altinkum (Altinkum being the tourist resort.
Fantastic place, found a loverly cafe where one of the waiters spoke in a think geordie accent, even though he has never been out of Turkey -
Go to Dalyan if you can, there is a mud bath and springs, and a boat trip to the beach where the loggerhead turtles lay their eggs.
